The Team


Our Healthcare Group is seeking a driven and detail-oriented Plumbing & Fire Protection Engineer with proven interest in building design. Working closely with our clients, the Healthcare Group focuses on building-system solutions for hospitals, medical clinics, outpatient centers, labs, and other healthcare facilities.


Responsibilities


  • Work with project team to develop drawings and specification documents.
  • Design plumbing, medical gas, and fire protection systems, including development of initial plumbing concepts.
  • Perform system design calculations for domestic water, natural gas, medical gases, sanitary/sewer load calculations.
  • Perform system design calculations for fire protection systems.
  • Select equipment for use in building systems.
  • Incorporate sustainable design methods in buildings.
  • Prepare contract drawings detailing the designed systems.
  • Report writing and specification preparation.
  • Coordinate work with engineers of other disciplines and architects.
  • Attend meetings and communicate with clients to establish their needs and discuss design issues with them.
  • Correspond with the necessary utility companies to coordinate necessary incoming services.
  • Attend construction meetings and correspond with contractors and design team to solve construction issues.
  • Review RFIs and submittals of all plumbing related items in construction.
  • Attend Site visits and produce field observation reports.
  • Review finalized construction and provide punchlists of open items.


Requirements


  • A baccalaureate degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited 4-year institution.
  • 3-5 years of professional experience in commercial, healthcare, or institutional building projects.
  • At least 3 years of current experience designing plumbing and fire protection systems.
  • Strong AutoCAD and Revit capabilities.
  • Strong fundamental understanding of national and/or New York City plumbing, fire and building codes.
  • Lab, Healthcare, S&T, and medical gas experience strongly preferred.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office suite.
  • Strong Analytical and quantitative skills, and a demonstrated capability for analysis and strategic thinking.
  • Strong initiative—the willingness and ability to succeed in a collaborative, team-based environment.
  • Ability to multi-task with multiple projects in order to meet strict deadlines.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to communicate thoughts and technical ideas in an accessible way, both verbally and in writing.


The salary range for this position will be between $100,000-115,000. This is a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this position. Actual base salary will vary and will be based on several factors including, but not limited to, relevant experience, education, skills, licensure, location and other business and organizational needs. Base salary is only one component of our total compensation package. At Loring, we offer a competitive benefits package, and eligibility for discretionary incentives based on position, which are determined by company and individual performance.
