Structural Engineer

Bornhorst + Ward is seeking a Structural Engineer to join our dynamic design team in Brisbane and work on a wide variety of exciting projects. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 4 years' experience in structural engineering design and be adept at working both independently and as part of a collaborative team.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Undertake structural analysis and design for a wide variety of building structures and infrastructure projects.
  • Prepare and review engineering drawings, models, and documentation.
  • Collaborate with internal design and drafting teams to deliver practical, buildable solutions.
  • Liaise with clients, architects, and consultants to ensure alignment throughout the design process.
  • Attend design meetings and conduct occasional site inspections.

Key Requirements:

Experience & Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 4 years’ experience in structural engineering design with hands on experience with design of steel and concrete structures.
  • A Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
  • Have obtained, or is actively working towards RPEQ.

Technical Skills:

  • Proficient in structural analysis and design software such as SpaceGASS, RAPT, RAM Concept, ETABS, or Inducta.
  • Working knowledge of Australian Standards and local industry practices.
  • Strong grasp of concrete and steel design fundamentals.

Soft Skills:

  • Strong communication skills and a collaborative mindset.
  • Proficient in tools such as Bluebeam, Revit, and Microsoft Office.
  • Passionate about engineering, with a desire to grow professionally and contribute to team success.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively within a design team, communicate seamlessly with our drafting team, and maintain productive client relationships.
