The Role
As a Fire Protection Senior Associate Engineer, you’ll take a leading role in delivering practical, compliant design solutions across a diverse range of projects. Based in our Spring Hill office, you’ll work closely with our fire protection team and wider multidisciplinary group to guide outcomes from concept through to completion.
You’ll lead technical delivery, mentor team members, coordinate with other disciplines, and build strong client relationships through clear communication and practical, well-considered advice.
This role is ideal for an experienced engineer ready to step into a senior leadership position, support team development, and help shape the continued growth of our fire protection capability.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Leading fire protection design across a wide range of projects
- Overseeing documentation, calculations, drawings, schedules, and specifications
- Reviewing design outputs and supporting quality assurance across deliverables
- Mentoring engineers and designers within the team
- Coordinating with internal disciplines, including mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, fire safety, and structural teams
- Liaising with clients, architects, contractors, certifiers, authorities, and external stakeholders
- Supporting project planning, resourcing, fee input, and delivery strategy
- Ensuring designs meet Australian Standards, National Construction Code, and relevant authority requirements
- Contributing to business development, client relationships, and team growth
What You’ll Bring
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, or equivalent qualification
- RPEQ and CPEng accreditation, or a clear pathway toward achieving both.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to manage work across simultaneous projects
- Sound knowledge of the National Construction Code, Building Code of Australia, relevant Australian Standards, and fire protection authority processes
- Experience in dry and wet fire services design and documentation
- 7+ years’ experience in fire protection services design within building services
- Demonstrated experience leading projects and coordinating multidisciplinary design inputs
- Ability to mentor, guide, and support junior and intermediate team members
- Experience with Revit, AutoCAD, Navisworks, and BIM environments
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with confidence liaising directly with clients and project stakeholders
- A proactive, solutions-focused approach with strong commercial awareness
- Ability to work independently while contributing to a collaborative, high-performing team
