Position Summary


Lincoln Electric Products is seeking an Electrical Engineer with direct experience in switchgear or switchboard manufacturing. This role is responsible for designing, developing, and supporting the production of low-voltage switchboards (UL 891), panelboards (UL 67), and control panels (UL 508A).


The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience creating panel layouts, and wiring diagrams, that are used directly in a manufacturing environment and will be capable of contributing quickly in a fast-paced manufacturing environment with minimal onboarding.


Candidates without direct switchgear/switchboard manufacturing experience will not be considered.


This full-time, exempt position reports directly to the Manager- Electrical Engineering.


Working Conditions: Primarily office-based with regular interaction on the manufacturing floor


Job Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop low-voltage switchgear and switchboards for manufacturing using computer-aided design (AutoCAD) software.
  • Creating detailed electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, panel layouts, and control diagrams to be used in the manufacturing process.
  • Participating in the selection and specification of switchgear components, including circuit breakers, contactors, transformers, and other elements.
  • Perform breaker coordination, load calculations, and kAIC analysis
  • Support busbar sizing, layout, and thermal considerations
  • Troubleshoot and resolve wiring, layout, and component issues during production
  • Review and improve existing designs for efficiency, manufacturability, and cost optimization
  • Collaborating directly with mechanical engineers, manufacturing/ assembly teams and technicians, and other professionals to support builds and to ensure that electrical systems are properly integrated with mechanical systems.
  • Staying up to date with industry standards, best practices, and new technologies related to switchgear design and manufacturing.
  • Ensure designs comply with UL 891 (switchboards), UL 67 (panelboards), UL 508A (control panels), and the National Electric Code (NEC).


Skills, Requirements, and Specifications

  • Direct experience working for a switchgear or switchboard manufacturing company (REQUIRED)
  • Proven experience designing switchgear/switchboards that are manufactured and assembled in a production environment
  • Experience designing equipment that is directly built and assembled in a manufacturing facility
  • Must have strong proficiency in AutoCAD Electrical design software
  • Experience creating wiring diagrams, and panel layouts for manufacturing
  • Working knowledge of UL standards (UL 891, UL 508A) and NEC codes
  • Experience supporting production or shop floor troubleshooting


Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working with CNC equipment, industrial machinery, or automation systems
  • Familiarity with busbar design and power distribution systems
  • Experience collaborating with manufacturing and production teams
  • Exposure to continuous improvement / lean manufacturing environments
  • Knowledge of PLC and HMI systems and PLC Ladder Logic programming (Codesvs or similar.)
  • Experience with Switchgear from manufacturers such as Eaton, Schneider Electric, Siemens, ABB, Powell, or similar is highly preferred


Education: Bachelor or Masters Electrical Engineering Degree
