About UET

UET designs and builds compute pods that combine GPU processing with immersion cooling, serving defense and commercial customers who need serious processing power without an existing data center. Our work spans government multi-sensor programs and commercial deployments focused on data sovereignty and lower cloud costs. Entry-level mechanical engineers here work directly with senior staff, own real design work, and watch parts move from CAD to prototype to fielded hardware. UET is small, hands-on, and growing, with a new presence taking shape in Sarasota/Bradenton, Florida.

Location & Work Model

This role is fully remote to start, with the expectation of moving to a hybrid schedule once UET opens its planned office in the Sarasota/Bradenton, Florida area. We are prioritizing candidates based in (or willing to relocate to) the Tampa–Sarasota region who can transition to hybrid work in the near future. Full-time is preferred; we're open to exceptional part-time candidates who are a strong fit.

Position Overview

The Entry-Level Mechanical Design Engineer supports our engineering team across both existing products and new product development. The engineer will assist in designing, modeling, and documenting mechanical components and assemblies. This role is ideal for early-career engineers who have strong foundational skills in SolidWorks 3D modeling, engineering drawings, and the application of ASME Y14.5M and GD&T. The engineer will work closely with senior staff to develop manufacturable designs, perform basic analyses, and contribute to product development activities.

Key Responsibilities

· Create 3D models for parts and assemblies using SolidWorks.

· Generate engineering drawings compliant with ASME Y14.5M.

· Apply basic GD&T to define critical features and ensure proper fit, form, and function.

· Support engineering reviews by preparing models, drawings, and documentation packages.

· Assist with tolerance stack‑ups, fit checks, and simple mechanical analyses.

· Collaborate with senior engineers to refine designs and incorporate feedback.

· Participate in prototype builds and testing by providing dimensional data and updating drawings as needed.

· Maintain organized CAD data, revision control, and documentation accuracy.

Required Qualifications

· Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or related field.

· 1–3 years of experience in mechanical design and drafting.

· Proficiency in SolidWorks (parts, assemblies, and drawings).

· Working knowledge of ASME Y14.5M and GD&T fundamentals.

· Ability to interpret engineering requirements and translate them into clear models and drawings.

· Familiarity with machining, sheet metal, or fabrication processes.

· Strong attention to detail and commitment to high-quality engineering documentation.

· Must be authorized to work in the United States without visa sponsorship.

Preferred Qualifications

· Experience with the 3DEXPERIENCE PDM system or similar.

· Exposure to prototype fabrication or hands-on mechanical assembly.

· Understanding of fasteners, hardware standards, and mechanical component libraries.

· Basic knowledge of tolerance analysis methods.

Soft Skills

· Strong communication and willingness to learn from senior engineers.

· Organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple tasks.

· Collaborative mindset and ability to work in a team environment.

· Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

How to Apply

· Interested candidates should apply directly through LinkedIn. In your application, feel free to highlight your relevant SolidWorks, engineering drawing, and GD&T experience.
