Position Overview
Gasser Chair is seeking a hands-on, detail-oriented Process Engineering Technician to support the development, documentation, and improvement of manufacturing processes used to produce our custom seating products.
This role bridges engineering and daily manufacturing operations. The Process Engineering Technician will conduct time studies, collect and analyze process data, develop standard work, support production trials, troubleshoot process issues, and help implement approved improvements that strengthen safety, quality, consistency, and efficiency.
The Process Engineering Technician will report to the Engineering Manager and work closely with production leadership, quality, maintenance, and engineering team members. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys solving practical problems on the manufacturing floor and seeing process improvements make a real impact.
Key Responsibilities
- Routing and BOM Management: Create, maintain, and audit manufacturing routings and bills of materials (BOMs) within the ERP system to ensure accuracy, completeness, and alignment with engineering documentation and actual production processes.
- Process Documentation: Develop, maintain, and continuously improve manufacturing process documentation, including work instructions, process sheets, setup instructions, photographs, quality requirements, and other documentation necessary to clearly define how products are manufactured.
- Production Process Verification: Spend significant time on the production floor observing and verifying manufacturing processes to ensure documented routings, BOMs, work instructions, materials, tooling, and production methods accurately reflect actual and intended manufacturing practices.
- Time Studies and Process Analysis: Conduct time and motion studies, document cycle and setup times, and assist in establishing accurate labor standards. Evaluate production processes to identify opportunities for improved efficiency, quality, consistency, ergonomics, and material flow.
- Process Engineering Support: Assist Engineering and Manufacturing with the evaluation, development, testing, and implementation of new or revised manufacturing processes, equipment, tooling, fixtures, and production methods.
- New Product and Engineering Change Support: Support new product introductions, first articles, engineering changes, and production launches by verifying BOMs, routings, documentation, tooling, and manufacturing processes prior to and during implementation.
- Continuous Improvement: Support Lean manufacturing, 5S, waste reduction, workstation improvements, and other continuous improvement initiatives that improve safety, quality, productivity, material utilization, and manufacturing flow.
- Associate degree in Engineering Technology, Manufacturing Technology, Industrial Technology, or a related field; or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments and with external stakeholders.
- Proficient in ERP systems, networked computers, and Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, etc.).
- Experience with CAD software, Autodesk Inventor, a plus.
- Highly detail-oriented and quality-focused, with strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
