Supervisory Responsibilities
Assigning and reviewing work to Junior Traffic Engineers
Duties/Responsibilities
- Studies traffic patterns and develops recommendations to improve traffic control.
- Collects data on road construction, land development, and traffic signals.
- Uses computer software to simulate the effects of using different materials in road construction or different signals.
- Analyzes the environmental impact of road construction.
- Plans traffic signal locations and timing systems.
- Designs pavement markings and traffic signals to improve traffic flow.
- Prepares and presents reports with traffic study findings.
- Prepares and presents reports with cost estimates for recommended improvements.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Extensive knowledge of road construction and design.
- Extensive knowledge of traffic control equipment and signals.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software, and computer-aided design (CAD) and modeling software.
- Bachelor's degree from an EAC/ABET-accredited program in engineering required.
- Licensure as professional engineer (PE) required.
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
- Able to traverse various terrains to visit field sites.
- This position reports directly to the Vice President of Engineering
