Are you an inventive engineer driven by solving complex problems and bringing cutting-edge connector designs to life? Molex is seeking a Design Engineer II to join our Connector Engineering team. In this role, you will apply strong engineering fundamentals, analytical tools, and critical thinking to develop innovative, high-performance connector products that meet customer needs and business objectives.

You will collaborate with cross-functional teams throughout the product development lifecycle, leveraging advanced engineering methodologies including CAD, FEA, DFMEA, tolerance analysis, DVP&R, and structured problem-solving techniques. Our Team

Our Connector Engineering team is responsible for designing and developing innovative interconnect solutions that support industries ranging from automotive and transportation to industrial and data communications. Working alongside experienced engineers, manufacturing experts, quality teams, and global stakeholders, you will help bring robust, reliable, and cost-effective products from concept through production.

What You Will Do

  • Create innovative connector designs that balance customer requirements, manufacturability, quality, reliability, and cost.
  • Drive product development activities through concept generation, design validation, and engineering analysis.
  • Apply engineering tools such as DFMEA, FEA, tolerance stack analysis, and statistical methods to make informed design decisions.
  • Develop and maintain 3D models, engineering drawings, and technical documentation utilizing GD&T best practices.
  • Partner with manufacturing, quality, test, and supply chain teams to deliver successful product launches.
  • Develop validation strategies and analyze test results to ensure products meet performance and reliability requirements.
  • Utilize structured problem-solving methodologies to identify root causes and implement effective corrective actions.
  • Contribute to material selection and process decisions for plastic injection molded, stamped, plated, and assembled components.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives that enhance product performance, manufacturability, and customer value.

Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
  • 3+ years of experience in product design and development.
  • Experience utilizing engineering analysis tools such as FEA, DFMEA, and tolerance stack-up analysis during product development.
  • Experience developing validation plans, conducting product testing, and analyzing test data.
  • Demonstrated experience utilizing structured problem-solving methodologies such as 8D, 5 Why, or Fishbone Analysis.
  • Ability to travel up to 10%.

What Will Put You Ahead

  • Experience designing products for the automotive industry, preferably connector systems.
  • Knowledge of automotive low-voltage and high-voltage connector technologies.
  • Experience with APQP, design verification, and product validation methodologies.
  • Understanding of engineering materials including plastics, resins, and metals.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes including injection molding, metal stamping, plating, and assembly.
  • Experience performing DOE, Hypothesis Testing, and Capability Studies.
  • Strong proficiency in CAD modeling, GD&T, and technical documentation.
