The project
Join CODETIQ's engineering team working on offshore charging systems for electric Service Operation Vessels (eSOVs) supporting the offshore wind industry.
These systems enable vessels to charge directly at sea, bringing together industrial automation, electrical infrastructure, real-time monitoring, and software into integrated solutions designed for demanding offshore environments.
You'll work across a growing portfolio of international projects within the offshore charging domain. While they share the same core engineering principles, each project brings different operational requirements, system interfaces, and technical challenges.
This gives you the opportunity to work beyond a single implementation and contribute to how control-system solutions are designed, adapted, and improved across multiple projects.
Your role
As a Controls Engineer, you'll take responsibility for the control and automation layer and work across the full control-system lifecycle, from control philosophy and architecture to integration, testing, commissioning, and operational support.
You'll be part of a cross-functional CODETIQ team in Belgrade, working closely with client-side engineering teams in Denmark and the UK, as well as with specialist suppliers, system integrators, and other engineering partners.
A significant part of the client engineering and hardware activities is based in Denmark, so direct collaboration with teams outside Serbia is an important part of the role.
You'll work across software, electrical, mechanical, and automation disciplines. We expect engineers to understand the wider system, challenge assumptions, propose solutions, and take ownership of technical decisions within their area.
What you'll work on
- Design and implement control strategies for offshore charging systems
- Develop PLC logic and SCADA interfaces
- Contribute to control philosophies and PLC/SCADA architecture
- Integrate control systems with electrical, mechanical, and software components
- Work with industrial communication protocols including Modbus, OPC UA, IEC 104, and IEC 61850
- Design for real-time monitoring, automation, alarm handling, fault response, and system reliability
- Contribute to control-system safety, fault tolerance, and OT cybersecurity
- Support system integration, testing, commissioning, troubleshooting, and operational support
- Collaborate directly with control-system vendors, suppliers, integrators, and engineering partners
- Apply lessons learned across projects and contribute to improving future system deployments
What we expect
- 5+ years of relevant experience in control systems, industrial automation, or a similar engineering role
- Strong hands-on experience with PLC programming and SCADA systems
- Experience with industrial communication protocols such as Modbus and OPC UA
- Strong understanding of control-system architecture and integration with electrical and mechanical systems
- Experience across the control-system lifecycle, from design and integration to commissioning and operational support
- Understanding of OT cybersecurity principles; knowledge of IEC 62443 is a strong advantage
- Experience with industrial or real-time systems where reliability, fault handling, and operational safety are critical
- A relevant degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation, Control Systems Engineering, or a related technical field
- Strong analytical thinking, engineering ownership, and confidence making technical decisions
- Professional English and confidence working directly with international teams, clients, suppliers, and engineering partners
International travel
International travel is a mandatory part of this role, approximately 30–60 days per year.
Travel is primarily connected with client and hardware activities in Denmark, as well as engineering collaboration, supplier activities, testing, and commissioning across Europe and the UK.
Most travel and day-to-day international collaboration therefore remain within the same or closely aligned time zones.
Because travel is an integral part of the role, CODETIQ covers required business travel and accommodation expenses, together with appropriate insurance coverage and compensation for work abroad in line with company policy.
