The business is continuing to grow across Australia and internationally, creating an exciting opportunity for an experienced Electrical Engineer to join their Ballarat-based team.
This role would suit someone who enjoys variety, problem-solving and being involved in projects from initial concept and design through to delivery. It could also be a great opportunity for a New Zealand-based engineer with Australian working rights who is ready for a move across the Tasman.
About The Role
Reporting to the Electrical Projects Manager, you’ll work as part of the Electrical Project Management team and play a key role in delivering the electrical and automation components of customer projects.
You’ll be involved in a mix of electrical engineering, control systems, design, project support and technical problem-solving, working closely with internal engineering and project teams, suppliers, contractors and customers.
Your Responsibilities Will Include
- Developing electrical strategies and engineering solutions for projects
- Preparing functional descriptions and assisting with project concepts and preliminary design
- Designing and producing electrical control system drawings
- Developing P&ID drawings and electrical engineering documentation
- Completing electrical engineering calculations
- Designing, sizing and specifying electrical equipment
- Working with suppliers and vendors to select the right equipment for each project
- Assisting with estimates, proposals and project planning
- Supporting electrical installations and providing remote technical assistance
- Preparing installation, operation and maintenance manuals, datasheets and control documentation
- Providing project management support throughout delivery
- Working to relevant electrical engineering standards and recommended practices
- Contributing to HAZOPs where required
About You
We’re looking for an experienced Electrical Engineer with a strong understanding of industrial electrical systems and PLCs, and someone who enjoys working through technical challenges and finding practical solutions.
You’ll Ideally Bring
- 3+ years’ Electrical Engineering experience
- 3+ years’ PLC experience
- Relevant electrical qualifications, ideally Certificate III in Electrotechnology / Electrical
- Experience designing electrical control systems and producing drawings
- Strong analytical and problem-solving ability
- High attention to detail
- Good commercial and business awareness
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively across a project team
- A commitment to safe working practices
