About The Team

We are looking for a motivated Senior Development Engineer - Umbilicals (m/f/d) at our home base in Augsburg with experience in structural and mechanism design and development. This is a rare opportunity allowing you to be involved in demanding development efforts that are supported by parallel test campaigns allowing us to close short-iteration development cycles at fast pace. You will work in a dedicated, dynamic and international environment that aims for excellence by creating high-performance engineering solutions while keeping production costs at an absolute minimum.

Your Tasks

  • Develop umbilical systems on the launch vehicle
  • Work closely with systems engineering, fluidic engineers and launch site engineers to meet requirements and ensure compatibility and reliable operation with other systems
  • Create CAD models and manufacturing documentation of components and assemblies
  • Define and lead testing activities
  • Support AIT during integration
  • Resolve non-conformances
  • Occasionally travel to launch site

Your Qualifications

  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering or related discipline
  • 5+ years of professional experience in the design/development of related systems. Student team experience and internships are considered a plus
  • Experience with fluidic systems
  • Experience with couplings is a plus
  • Experience with actuators is a plus
  • Experience with mechanisms is a plus
  • Good CAD skills (Siemens NX or other)
  • Self-starter with minimal input
  • Extremely proactive and always looking for the “what can be done next”
  • Exceptional problem-solving abilities
  • Structured way of working
  • Business level English
