We are seeking a skilled and motivated Intermediate Civil Engineer with 5+ years of experience to join our Auckland office team. The successful candidate will provide design and consulting on projects within New Zealand and Australia. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a dynamic office experiencing rapid growth in a healthy market focused on infrastructure development, specifically in the underground sector for the foreseeable future.
Responsibilities
- Undertake civil design for infrastructure associated with three waters projects and transportation tunnels, including stormwater and wastewater drainage, earthworks, site grading, surface reinstatement and access roads.
- Prepare civil design calculations, specifications and construction drawings.
- Integrate contractor construction methodology with designs.
- Coordinate with engineers in solving complex, multi-disciplinary design problems
- Write technical reports and other documents explaining the basis for designs or recommendations.
- Direct and coordinate Digital Engineering technicians on the proper display of plans, sections and details.
- Participate in the quality control process for calculations and designs prior to submittal to the client.
- Assist with construction-phase services, including site inspections, contractor submittal reviews, response to technical queries.
- Bachelor of Engineering (Civil), or equivalent, from an accredited university.
- Minimum 5 years civil engineering experience.
- CPEng or working towards chartership
- Preparing engineering calculations, design reports, specifications and construction drawings.
- Strong technical problem-solving skills to achieve practical, buildable solutions.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Effective collaboration within multidisciplinary project teams.
- Ability to work independently and undertake site inspections.
- New Zealand full driver’s license (or ability to obtain one).
- Design and coordination of;
- Surface drainage and stormwater management systems
- Wastewater reticulation systems
- Earthworks and site grading
- Access roads, pavement design and road corridor infrastructure
- Understanding of New Zealand design standards, council requirements and infrastructure specifications.
- Working knowledge of Autodesk Civil 3D, including the ability to interrogate design models, sketch and communicate design changes, and coordinate drawing updates with Digital Engineering technician.
