We are seeking a Senior Electrical Designer to join our team and contribute to meaningful projects across the Renewable Energy, Thermal Energy, Water and Power sectors. If you are an experienced Senior Electrical Designer, or have the skills and experience to step into the role, we would like to hear from you.

This role offers the opportunity to be involved from concept through to detailed design and construction support, contributing to critical infrastructure and energy transition projects that have a real impact.

About The Role

As an Electrical Designer, you will play a key role in producing high-quality electrical design deliverables and supporting project teams across a diverse range of industrial and infrastructure projects.

We specialize in consulting, engineering, procurement and construction across the project lifecycle, with services extending through to operations and decommissioning. Leveraging extensive experience and AI-enabled delivery, we support customers in navigating complexity as they meet today's needs and transition to more sustainable solutions.

In New Zealand, we have six offices spread across the country and work for a diverse range of clients focused on the energy, water, power and industrial sectors. We love solving complex problems and are involved from the first stages of engineering and consulting through to installation and commissioning.

What You'll Do

  • Develop electrical drawings, documentation, models and layouts.
  • Lead small design teams when necessary.
  • Prepare cable schedules, wiring diagrams, termination drawings and equipment layouts.
  • Support LV and MV electrical design activities.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary design reviews and coordination.
  • Apply relevant standards, client requirements and safety principles.
  • Provide design support during procurement, construction and commissioning.
  • Contribute to a safe and sustainable working environment by supporting Worley’s health, safety and environmental requirements.

You will be someone who enjoys practical design work, communicates well, and takes pride in delivering clear, accurate and well-coordinated electrical design outputs.

What You'll Have

  • Experience in one or more of the following sectors: renewable energy, thermal energy, water and wastewater, power generation, transmission or distribution.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD and/or other electrical design software.
  • Experience preparing electrical design documentation and construction deliverables.
  • Experience leading a team of designers.
  • Sound understanding of electrical design principles and relevant industry standards.
  • Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively with engineers, designers, clients and project stakeholders.

Additional Experience That Would Be Advantageous

  • HV/LV power systems, substations and switchgear.
  • Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS).
  • 3D modelling and digital engineering tools.
