We’re recruiting an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer for an established Troy-area manufacturer of engineered mechanical components used in industrial automation and advanced manufacturing.

This is a highly hands-on engineering environment where engineering and manufacturing work closely together. You’ll be given real-world customer and application challenges and the opportunity to develop creative solutions, design the components and mechanisms, work directly with the people building them, and see your designs perform in actual production environments.

• Own your designs from initial concept through manufacturing and production
• Create new components and mechanisms, not simply revise existing drawings
• Use your creativity and engineering judgment to solve unique application challenges
• Work directly with machinists, builders, customers and controls engineers
• See what you design actually manufactured, assembled and tested
• Work with automation involving PLCs, sensors, pneumatics, actuators, servos and linear motion
• Apply real mechanical engineering including loads, tolerances, component selection and manufacturability
• Enjoy variety, different applications bring different engineering challenges

What We’re Looking For

• Ideally, you’ll bring 7–10+ years of mechanical design experience involving mechanical components, mechanisms, automation, machining, GD&T, tolerances and manufacturing.
• Controls knowledge is important. You don’t need to be a PLC programmer, but you should understand how your mechanical designs interact with controls, sensors and automated equipment.
• Strong 3D CAD skills are required. Autodesk Inventor experience is a plus.
