Position Summary


The Junior Automotive Fuel Injection Design & Release Engineer will be responsible for the design, development, and release of fuel injection system components for one or more major engine families. Components may include high-pressure fuel pumps, direct injection (GDI) rails, high-pressure fuel lines, port injection (PFI) rails, PFI/GDI fuel injectors, and other fuel-system components. This role is part of the Core Engine Engineering team and will support component development, engineering changes, continuous improvement, fuel economy optimization, root-cause analysis, and corrective actions.


Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the design, development, and release of automotive fuel injection system components.
  • Work closely with Design, CAE, and cross-functional engineering teams to optimize component designs.
  • Develop and maintain DFMEA and DVP&R to identify risks and ensure reliability requirements are met.
  • Initiate source packages and support APQP activities throughout the development process.
  • Coordinate prototype part orders and manage component development activities.
  • Plan, monitor, and support DV/PV testing, including post-test reviews and failure analysis.
  • Support component, system, engine, and vehicle testing throughout the product development lifecycle.
  • Participate in manufacturing reviews, production launch activities, change management, and continuous improvement.
  • Perform engineering root-cause analysis and develop corrective actions when required.
  • Support development of service procedures and production implementation.
  • Apply engineering principles related to fluid mechanics, fluid flow, sealing, and fuel system performance.


Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
  • Minimum 1-2 years of relevant experience in fuel injection system/component design and release.
  • Experience with engineering design and analysis tools and practices, including CAD, CAE, CFD, FEA, and GD&T.
  • Ability to perform basic fluid-flow and sealing-pressure calculations.
  • Strong understanding of internal combustion engine operation and fluid mechanics.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Project.
  • Self-motivated and capable of managing multiple complex engineering projects.
  • Ability to work effectively in a cross-functional engineering environment.
  • Willingness to travel 0–20%, primarily locally, with occasional travel to facilities in the U.S., Canada, and Mexico.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
  • Previous experience developing and releasing automotive fuel system components.
  • Experience with fuel pump and fuel injection system design.
  • Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification.
