The Role
We are looking for a Mobile Robotics Engineer to join our core team and contribute to the development and deployment of autonomous robotic systems for firefighting applications. This is a multidisciplinary, hands-on position covering the full-stack: robotics software, perception, networking, hardware integration, mechanical design, deployment and field testing.
In this role, you will:
Develop Robotics Software and ROS Infrastructure. Design and implement ROS/ROS 2 nodes, drivers, interfaces, and supporting tools to connect robot hardware, sensors, actuators, and external systems. Develop, test, and troubleshoot software for localization, navigation, data acquisition, monitoring, and robot operation.
Work on Perception and Sensor Calibration. Integrate and calibrate sensors such as LiDARs, IMUs, GNSS receivers, RGB cameras, and thermal cameras. Work on sensor fusion, localization, mapping, and perception to provide an accurate and reliable understanding of the robot’s environment.
Handle Communications and Networking. Implement and troubleshoot communication interfaces and protocols, including CAN, Ethernet, serial, TCP, and UDP. Configure and maintain onboard networks, and diagnose issues involving Wi-Fi, routing, IP address management, latency, packet loss, multicast, and ROS 2/DDS communications.
Perform Electrical and Hardware Integration. Integrate sensors, edge computers, communication modules (e.g. routers) and other electrical components into mobile robotic platforms. Select, validate, and install suitable power converters, PoE equipment, adapters, connectors, wiring, and industrial communication devices.
Design Mechanical Solutions and Prototypes. Design mounting solutions, brackets, and enclosures using CAD software, considering sensor placement, field of view, alignment, cable management, cooling, maintainability, and environmental protection. Rapidly prototype, test, and refine these designs using methods such as 3D printing.
Conduct Testing and Support Field Deployment. Plan and perform structured laboratory and field tests, collecting and analysing logs, sensor data, ROS bags, network traces, and other diagnostic information. Identify failure modes, improve system reliability, and support demonstrations, customer-site evaluations, mapping activities, and deployments.
Shape the Product and Its Technical Direction. Take ownership of meaningful engineering decisions that directly influence the design, capabilities, and future direction of the product. As part of a small core team, your ideas and technical judgement will have a visible impact on both the robotic system and how it is developed.
Requirements
- Degree in Robotics, Control Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or related field (or equivalent hands-on experience)
- Proficiency in C++ and/or Python.
- Strong fundamentals in mobile robotics (e.g. kinematics, sensor fusion, localization, navigation)
- Experience with ROS/ROS2.
- Comfortable working across software and hardware, including the electrical integration of sensors and other robotic components.
- Good understanding of IP networking, including TCP/UDP, IP address management, routing, switches, and network troubleshooting.
- Familiarity with Git, Docker, and general software engineering best practices.
- Strong practical debugging and problem-solving skills.
- Professional working proficiency in English is required; Proficiency in both English and Greek is preferred.
Nice to have
- Experience with embedded systems or low-level communication (CAN, Serial, Ethernet).
- Background in computer vision or machine learning.
- Experience with Nav2, SLAM, localization, or path-planning frameworks.
- Experience with Gazebo, Isaac Sim, or other robotics simulation environments.
- Experience deploying and troubleshooting robots outside controlled laboratory environments.
- Experience with CAD modelling and the design of mechanical parts for fabrication or 3D printing.

- The position includes hands-on work with robotic platforms and may require occasional travel to customer sites and testing locations.
Compensation and Benefits
- €28,000–€40,000 (plus VAT) gross annual salary, paid over 12 monthly salaries, depending on experience and technical background.
