Job Overview
The CAD Electrical Engineer supports the Equipment Build Manufacturing team in the design, specification, and continuous improvement of automated and semi-automated machines used for production and testing purposes. This individual works closely with cross-functional teams — including Design Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Software Engineering, Systems Engineering, Production, and Quality Engineering — to deliver safe, reliable, and well-documented electrical control systems in a fast-paced, high-expectation manufacturing environment.

What You Will Get to Do
Primary Duties
- Work with Design Engineering and Manufacturing Test Engineering to define requirements for acceptance testing of product designs.
- Draw clear panel layouts and wiring diagrams based on industry safety standards (e.g. NFPA 79).
- Select electrical hardware and correctly size wires and components.
- Map out network and communication links for automated and semi-automated equipment.
- Create and maintain up-to-date documentation, including electrical schematics, one-line diagrams, wire harness drawings, and complete BOMs (parts and spares).
- Drive continuous improvement on deployed, qualified automated machines.
- Update final drawings to match “as-built” changes, following current drafting and dimensioning standards (e.g. ASME Y14.5).
- Support design reviews to confirm that electrical designs can be built, tested, and maintained efficiently and in compliance with internal requirements.
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including Design Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Software Engineering, Systems Engineering, Production, and Quality Engineering.
- Assist in lifecycle changes and release of electrical drawings and documentation.
- Support the Equipment Build Manufacturing team with administrative tasks as needed.
- Bachelor’s degree in Electromechanical Engineering or a closely related field (Electrical, Mechatronics, Electronics)
- 4-6 years experience in Electromechanical design
- Solid electrical controls knowledge, including panel layouts and wiring diagrams to industry safety standards (e.g. NFPA 79).
- Experience selecting electrical hardware and correctly sizing wires and components.
- Experience mapping out network and communication links for automated equipment.
- Experience maintaining electrical schematics, one-line diagrams, wire harness drawings, and BOMs (parts and spares).
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- AutoCAD Electrical, SolidWorks Electrical, or EPLAN software knowledge.
- Industrial automation technologies knowledge.
- Experience with PLM data management for engineering drawings.
