Indexed description

Would you like to develop embedded software for advanced radar systems where C++, Linux, ARM microcontrollers and hardware integration are at the core of your daily work? Join a team building mission-critical technology for the defense and aerospace industry, where software performance, reliability and maintainability directly contribute to solutions that help keep people safe.

We are facing an exciting future with considerable growth and demanding changes, as we deliver advanced technologies and mission critical solutions for the defense and aerospace industry. Our systems provide security for people on land, at sea and in the air. Therefore, we are looking for a Software Engineer to become part of this journey and contribute to our overall purpose – securing people through advanced technology.

Your role in our team

We are looking for an experienced C++ developer with a strong software engineering mindset and a genuine interest in embedded and low-level software development.

You will work on software that operates close to the hardware and is part of complex radar systems. Much of the work involves C++, Linux, embedded software, and hardware integration. Some parts of the system run on Linux PCs, while others run on ARM-based microcontrollers.

This role is about more than writing code that works. We place great emphasis on solid software design, maintainability, testability, and sound technical decision-making. Some challenges are solved in C++, while others require a deeper understanding of what happens below the application layer and may involve using an oscilloscope for debugging and troubleshooting.

The work is currently focused on low-level software development, but the role offers the opportunity to work across a broader part of the software stack. Over time, there will also be opportunities to contribute to more traditional application development.

You will join a team of software developers and engineers working across different parts of the system. We value technical curiosity, constructive discussions, pragmatic problem-solving, and people who enjoy understanding how things work and how to build them well.

How you will make a meaningful contribution

Your key responsibilities include:

    • Developing embedded software for ARM-based microcontrollers
    • Designing, implementing, and maintaining software primarily in C++
    • Designing clean, maintainable software and contributing to architectural decisions together with the architecture team
    • Work with both existing codebases and new development projects
    • Debug and troubleshoot software and hardware-related issues
    • Write automated tests, participate in code reviews, and collaborate with the team to share knowledge

Bring your world class expertise into play

You are fluent in English, both written and spoken, at a professional level. Danish is an advantage but not a requirement. Most importantly, you are a strong software engineer who writes solid, maintainable code and has a good understanding of software design principles.

You should have experience with:

    • C++ development
    • Embedded software development, preferably STM32 or similar ARM-based platforms
    • Linux
    • Software design, architecture and maintainable software practices

It will be a plus if you have experience with:

    • Linux kernel development
    • Python or Java
    • Bazel, Docker or GitLab CI
    • Working with legacy code bases
    • Electronics debugging, including oscilloscopes and soldering

As a person, you are curious, analytical and passionate about solving complex technical challenges. You enjoy understanding systems at a deeper level, balancing technical depth with maintainable software design and collaborating with other engineers to find pragmatic solutions. You thrive in an environment where knowledge sharing, technical excellence and continuous improvement are valued.

We are an international company representing world-class expertise, delivering complex and high-tech products. We value our colleagues and our meaningful contributions to securing people through advanced technology. You will also experience that we have a strong focus on your development, teaching you useful new competences and further strengthening current ones, both professionally and personally. Our company culture is autonomous and engaging, and we acknowledge the importance of flexibility in a great working environment.

When joining Terma, we promise that you will experience: Great people, challenging tasks, world-class expertise, and meaningful contribution in your daily work.
