Your tasks

  • Xilinx FPGA Programming & Diagnostics: Write, implement, and maintain Xilinx FPGA logic specifically for board bring-up, diagnostics, and system health tests (e.g., voltage/temperature monitoring, self-tests).
  • Altium Hardware Design: Lead schematic capture and high-speed PCB layout using Altium Designer for HSM boards.
  • Prototyping & Bring-Up: Assemble, test, and debug initial prototype boards using lab equipment and 3D-printed enclosure fits.
  • Production Support: Provide direct engineering support to manufacturing to troubleshoot yield issues, test failures, and board-level defects.
  • Embedded HW Integration: Collaborate with the team to interface low-level hardware and validate board integrity.

Your profile:

Must-Haves (Required)

  • Altium Designer Expertise: Proven track record in schematic capture and high-speed multi-layer PCB design using Altium Designer.
  • Hardware Bring-Up & Prototyping: Hands-on experience debugging new board revisions, performing lab measurements (oscilloscopes, logic analyzers), and initial hardware bring-up.
  • Production & Manufacturing Support: Experience supporting high-volume electronics production, resolving assembly/yield issues, and handling component obsolescence.
  • Embedded Hardware Fundamentals: Strong understanding of low-level bus interfaces (SPI, I2C, UART, PCIe), power management, and microcontroller integration.
  • Education & Work Experience: Bachelor's/Master's degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering or relevant hands-on experience in senior hardware engineering.

Nice-to-Haves

  • Xilinx FPGA Skills: Practical experience programming Xilinx FPGAs (ability to write functional logic, integrate IP cores, and build/run board-level health and diagnostic tests).
  • 3D Printing & Mechanical Fit: Experience with 3D printing and CAD software for quick-turn enclosure, thermal, and mechanical fit checks.
  • HSM & Security Domain: Exposure to Hardware Security Modules (HSMs), tamper detection design, or cryptographic hardware standards (e.g., FIPS 140-2/3).
  • High-Speed Signal Integrity: Basic simulation experience for Signal Integrity/Power Integrity (SI/PI) in high-speed board design.
  • Scripting Skills: Python, Tcl, or Bash for automating board test routines and build workflows.

We offer

  • An open and friendly corporate culture, characterized by constructive and collaborative teamwork.
  • Support for your future plans through a company pension scheme (depending on country-specific conditions).
  • Early birds and night owls alike can shape their workday thanks to a flexible working model.
  • We also support you privately – benefit from special payments or additional vacation days on anniversaries or special occasions.
  • Utimaco is growing and embraces diversity! Our global team includes colleagues from 42 nations who speak 45 different languages.
