Where Is The Work

The Materials Project Manager is responsible for improving material processes and systems through the use of Lean tools within the Residential HVAC and Supply. This position is expected to lead and support projects to compress cycle times, improve inventory turns, improve material availability, and reduce waste in all Materials team processes. In addition, this position will use data analytics to help the Materials team make more informed business decisions.
Position Responsibilities
- Works with Materials Management group to improve measurements, analysis, development, and implementation of tools such as gap analysis, process performance, problem escalation, standard work, and cycle time reduction to improve Customer Fill-Rates and Inventory Optimization
- Support and lead Rapid Improvement Events that focus on Materials Management processes
- Maintain Materials Management software and other system integrations
- Lead Material management forecast and planning system enhancement projects
- Utilize six-sigma and lean tools to identify service, cash, and/or cost savings opportunities
- Assists the Materials team with new product introduction and team related project completion
- Develop, implement, and drive adherence to standard work
- Report key Distribution Center (DC) and DSO inventory metrics and drive improvement
- Educate the Material personnel on the various aspects of inventory management
- Perform other duties as assigned
- Must have the skillset to drive lean transformation by eliminating waste and increasing the velocity of customer orders cycle time.
- Demonstrated organizational skills to manage multiple priorities at once, excellent written and oral communication, and presentation skills with the ability to engage individuals across all levels within the organization
- Must be a proactive change agent and possess leadership skills to build and maintain a team-oriented environment while leveraging lean methodologies.
- Must be a flexible, decisive, and a proactive problem solver.
- Must be able to work well in high pressure, fast-paced environment.
- Must have solid interpersonal skills, ability to interact with various departments throughout the organization
- Must have excellent analytical skills
- Must be detail oriented and highly accurate
- Must have good understanding of manufacturing material flow in a distribution network
- Bachelor’s degree in business, supply chain, engineering, or related discipline is required
- 3-5 years’ experience in operations, inventory management, or related field
- Leadership ability and Project Management skills required
- Servigisitics, Oracle, Dataiku, and Tableau software experience preferred
- Experience with lean manufacturing processes preferred
- APICS certification preferred and/or line of sight to certification within 24 months
- Knowledge of personal computer applications required (Excel, Access, Word, Visio, PowerPoint, etc.)
