Systems Engineer (Network Engineer and Architecture Focus)

This position requires someone who can operate across technical domains, coordinate with cross‑functional engineering teams, and contribute to the development of scalable, secure networked systems.
Responsibilities
- Architect, design, and deploy network solutions across multi‑enclave environments
- Lead or support network integration efforts including SD‑WAN deployment, hardware selection, and ground system connectivity
- Develop and refine technical requirements, interface definitions, and system documentation
- Perform systems engineering activities including requirements analysis, Cameo systems modeling, and DOORS requirements management
- Support system design reviews, technical interchange meetings, and cross‑IPT coordination
- Analyze network performance, identify constraints, and recommend improvements or new architecture approaches
- Contribute to security planning and risk management strategies for networked systems
- Provide light leadership for small technical teams, help establish SLAs, and coordinate technical activities across engineering groups
- Support deployment planning, configuration management, and integration of IT and cloud‑based systems
- Prepare and deliver technical briefings, system artifacts, and engineering products
- 18+ years of experience
- Strong background in network engineering or network architecture
- Experience with enterprise or DoD network deployment, multi‑enclave environments, or mission partner networking
- Hands‑on experience with SD‑WAN, routing, switching, network hardware selection, and ground system integration
- IT systems experience including cloud environments, virtualization, and distributed systems
- Familiarity with systems engineering fundamentals: requirements, interfaces, MBSE tools, system documentation
- Experience with network‑centric government or enterprise environments (e.g., DISA networks, DISN, JWICS, AFNET POPs, or similar)
- Understanding of air‑based or ground‑based systems networking (e.g., AFSN)
- Ability to coordinate across engineering IPTs and provide leadership for small teams
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, mathematics, physics, or related technical field.
- Master’s or PhD in a technical field and 10+ years of experience
- Security+ or Network+
- CCNA or CCNP
- AWS Cloud Practitioner or Solutions Architect
- Systems engineering credentials (CSAP, DWIA, or similar)
- Additional network architecture or cloud certifications
- TS/SCI
- Up to 25% travel to government and industry sites as needed.
