Platform Engineer (Azure)
Indexed description
We are seeking an experienced (5+ years) Platform Engineer to join our Azure Platform team. You will operate the shared Azure platform that our engineering teams and business units run their workloads on: infrastructure as code, CI/CD pipelines, observability, and platform standards. The goal is a platform teams can consume without friction, and our measure of success is that it works in production, not that it looks good in a diagram.
Key Responsibilities
- Build, and operate Azure platform infrastructure, defined end to end in Terraform.
- Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines in Azure DevOps and GitHub for both platform and application teams.
- Enforce platform standards: naming, tagging, module structure, and Azure Policy.
- Build observability into the platform with Azure Monitor: logging, metrics, and actionable alerting.
- Support engineering teams consuming the platform: unblock them, review their infrastructure changes, and turn recurring requests into self-service.
- Drive cost awareness: monitor Azure spend, flag waste, and right-size resources.
- Troubleshoot platform issues across compute, networking, storage, and identity, and drive them to root cause.
- Document platform capabilities and standards so teams can self-serve.
- 5+ years of experience in platform, DevOps, or cloud engineering, with strong depth in Azure core services (compute, storage, networking, identity/Entra ID).
- Proven experience managing infrastructure as code with Terraform: modules, state management, and code review discipline.
- Demonstrable knowledge of Azure DevOps and GitHub, including CI/CD pipelines and release practices.
- Good scripting skills in either Bash or PowerShell.
- Knowledge of Azure governance: Azure Policy, RBAC, management groups, and tagging strategies.
- Experience building monitoring and alerting with Azure Monitor and Log Analytics.
- Ability to work autonomously, own problems end to end and communicate clearly with distributed teams.
- Experience working on enterprise-scale projects with distributed teams.
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Microsoft certifications related to Azure (e.g., AZ-104 Azure Administrator Associate, AZ-400 DevOps Engineer Expert).
