Azure Cloud Infrastructure Architect
Location: Houston, TX

Job Mode: Hybrid, 4 days onsite/1 day remote
Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Azure Cloud Infrastructure Architect to lead the design, implementation, and modernization of enterprise cloud infrastructure within Microsoft Azure. This individual will be responsible for defining cloud architecture standards, establishing governance frameworks, and building secure, scalable, and resilient cloud platforms that support critical business operations.
The ideal candidate will possess deep expertise in Azure infrastructure, networking, security, identity management, automation, and Infrastructure as Code (IaC). This is a hands-on architecture role that combines strategic planning with technical execution.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and implement scalable, secure, and cost-effective Azure cloud infrastructure solutions.
- Develop cloud architecture standards, governance policies, and Azure Landing Zone strategies.
- Lead cloud migration and modernization initiatives from on-premises environments to Azure.
- Architect and support Azure networking solutions, including VNets, ExpressRoute, VPNs, NSGs, and Azure Firewall.
- Design and implement identity and access management solutions utilizing Microsoft Entra ID (Azure AD), RBAC, and Privileged Identity Management.
- Develop Infrastructure as Code (IaC) solutions using Terraform, Bicep, ARM Templates, or similar tools.
- Establish disaster recovery, backup, business continuity, and high-availability architectures.
- Drive automation initiatives to improve cloud provisioning, monitoring, and operational efficiency.
- Partner with cybersecurity teams to implement cloud security best practices and compliance requirements.
- Optimize cloud environments for performance, reliability, and cost management.
- Collaborate with infrastructure, DevOps, application, and business teams to align cloud solutions with organizational objectives.
- Provide technical leadership, mentoring, and architectural guidance across enterprise cloud initiatives.
Required Qualifications
- 8+ years of IT infrastructure experience with at least 5 years focused on Microsoft Azure.
- Strong experience designing and implementing enterprise-scale Azure environments.
- Expertise with Azure networking, storage, compute, security, and identity services.
- Deep knowledge of cloud governance, Azure Landing Zones, and operational best practices.
- Experience supporting hybrid cloud and hybrid identity environments.
- Strong understanding of cloud security, compliance, and risk management frameworks.
- Experience with monitoring and observability platforms such as Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, and Application Insights.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Azure Solutions Architect Expert certification.
- Consulting background or someone who is comfortable speaking with external clients
- Azure Administrator Associate certification.
- Knowledge of FinOps and Azure cost optimization practices.
- Experience within large enterprise, energy, industrial, or regulated environments.
