Senior Microsoft Windows Field Deployment Technician

Overview

We are seeking a dedicated Senior Microsoft Windows Field Deployment Technician to join our team supporting the VA’s Electronic Health Record (EHR) deployment and training project. This role offers a unique opportunity to work onsite at Veterans' Administration Medical Centers and training locations, combining technical expertise with excellent customer service. You will be responsible for deploying, imaging, configuring, and managing IT equipment across various sites while ensuring smooth training sessions and maintaining inventory and network connectivity.

Education Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information System, Information Technology, or Equivalent and 5 total years of experience; or 13 total years of experience in lieu of a degree

Clearance Requirements

Public Trust clearance.

Work Arrangement

On-Site at Veterans' Administration Medical Centers and offsite training locations. The position involves daytime hours with potential evening and weekend hours and may require travel outside the metropolitan area throughout the week.

Responsibilities

  • Deploy, image, set up, and configure IT equipment including PCs, laptops, docking stations, monitors, printers, scanners, and network connections around VA campuses and training centers.
  • Unbox, install, and remove equipment with limited supervision; re-package hardware for shipment.
  • Verify each computer has the most current VA image, is available for security scans and updates, and has Active Directory assigned.
  • Configure network connectivity and install peripherals at training sites and seating areas.
  • Manage inventory and ensure network connectivity during all training sessions.
  • Setup equipment at various training sites and verify proper configuration and operation.
  • Support troubleshooting, hardware support, and system imaging efforts in high-availability environments.
  • Maintain accurate logs of system administration tasks and troubleshoot a wide variety of systems and networks.

Required Qualifications

  • 5 years’ experience in imaging, installing computer equipment, and managing teams of technical staff.
  • Must be able to unpack/re-pack, move, and install pallets of IT equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Must have personal transportation available during work hours.
  • Ability to traverse the site campus, transporting equipment, frequently stooping, crouching, and reaching to set up/remove computers and pull cords.
  • Experience with hardware and software support, troubleshooting, system imaging, hardware break-fix, refresh, upgrade, and deployment projects, along with excellent customer service skills.
  • Experience conducting routine system administration tasks and logging data in system logs.
  • Troubleshooting expertise across diverse systems and networks, including high availability systems.
  • Knowledge of debugging protocols and processes, with the ability to work independently while providing excellent customer service.
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information System, Information Technology, or equivalent and 5 total years of experience; or 13 years of experience in lieu of a degree.

Desired Skills

  • Experience with the ServiceNow ticketing system.
  • Experience working with the VA.
  • Public Trust clearance.
  • Experience with Microsoft Windows desktop deployments.
  • Experience as an IT helpdesk Tier 1 or Tier 2 technician.

Pay Range

Pay range: $40,000.00-$70,000.00.

This pay range is based on qualifications and experience, and assumes all role requirements are met.
