Project Manager - Fleet Maintenance & Asset Management Technology

Location: Inver Grove Heights, MN


Onsite Flexibility: Hybrid


Contract Details
  • Position Type: Contract
  • Contract Duration: 12 months
  • Pay Rate: $80.00–$95.00 / Hour (USD)
  • Shift / Schedule: Days (First Shift)

Job Summary

CHS has an exciting opportunity within our Information Technology organization supporting enterprise transportation and fleet operations. We are seeking an expert-level Project Management Specialist to lead the implementation of an enterprise maintenance and asset management capability. The initiative will establish more consistent maintenance processes and data, strengthen asset lifecycle visibility, and support preventive and predictive maintenance practices. This role requires an experienced implementation leader who can connect operational process design, enterprise technology delivery, data, integration, and change adoption while maintaining disciplined control of scope, schedule, budget, and risk.


Key Responsibilities
  • Partner with business and technology leaders to define project objectives, scope, governance, outcomes, and measurable success criteria.
  • Develop and maintain an integrated plan covering process design, requirements, configuration, integrations, data, testing, training, deployment, stabilization, and transition to support.
  • Partner with a CHS internal PM and coordinate work across fleet operations, maintenance locations, technicians, parts and inventory, procurement, finance, enterprise applications, data, architecture, infrastructure, and security teams.
  • Manage dependencies with relevant enterprise, transportation, telematics, reporting, identity, and financial systems.
  • Partner with change management and business leaders to develop stakeholder engagement, communications, role-based training, adoption, and sustainment plans.
  • Manage third-party delivery partners and hold all workstreams accountable for commitments and quality.
  • Own project financials, forecasts, resource plans, procurement dependencies, and variance reporting.
  • Lead identification, tracking, escalation, and mitigation of technical, data, adoption, and operational risks.
  • Produce clear delivery metrics, dashboards, decision materials, and executive status reports.
  • Ensure adherence to established enterprise delivery standards, governance, and applicable safety, security, architecture, data, and compliance requirements.

Required Skills
  • Proven success leading an enterprise maintenance, fleet, asset management, or field service technology implementation.
  • Experience delivering multi-location process standardization, data migration, systems integration, training, and adoption.
  • Ability to translate maintenance and fleet operating needs into disciplined IT delivery plans, decisions, and measurable outcomes.
  • Clear, concise communication with technical teams, business stakeholders, and executive leadership.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a data-driven approach to decisions.
  • A proactive mindset and the ability to anticipate milestones, risks, dependencies, and resource needs.
  • Sound judgment, executive presence, and a consistent focus on accountability and measurable outcomes.

Preferred Skills
  • Experience with multi-location implementations or phased enterprise deployments and large-scale data conversion.
  • PMI PMP certification.
  • Certified ScrumMaster or comparable Agile certification.
  • Experience managing delivery with third-party vendors, implementation partners, and system integrators.
  • Experience leading strong-matrix teams composed of employees and contractors.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence outcomes without direct authority in a decentralized organization.
  • Experience with Microsoft Project, Azure DevOps, or similar delivery tools.

Education Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, Project Management, Business, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

Required Experience
  • Proven track record leading at least two large-scale maintenance, fleet, asset management, field service, manufacturing, transportation, or supply chain technology implementations from initiation through deployment.
  • 10 years of experience in professional services consulting and/or IT program or project management delivering large, complex, multi-million-dollar technology initiatives.
  • Proven experience managing scope, schedule, budget, resources, dependencies, risks, issues, change control, testing, training, and deployment from initiation through delivery.
  • Experience operating in a matrixed, multi-business-unit enterprise environment and coordinating teams of 10 or more resources.
  • Experience delivering enterprise-scale solutions across complex application and integration landscapes, including infrastructure, information security, data, and enterprise architecture considerations.

Nice-to-Have Experience
  • Experience with multi-location implementations or phased enterprise deployments and large-scale data conversion.
  • Experience managing delivery with third-party vendors, implementation partners, and system integrators.
  • Experience leading strong-matrix teams composed of employees and contractors.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence outcomes without direct authority in a decentralized organization.
