Sr. Java Platform Engineer

Must Have

• Java 11+: strong hands-on development experience.
• Terraform: real, practical infrastructure-as-code experience (not just familiarity).
• Security frameworks and authentication mechanisms: hands-on experience implementing security controls and authentication mechanisms.
• Cloud platform experience: deep experience deploying and scaling cloud-based systems.
• Core platform systems: experience building and supporting core platform systems in production environments.

Ideal profile / what success looks like: we are looking for a Software/Platform Engineer who has evolved from software development into cloud infrastructure and platform engineering. Projects

We are seeking a Platform Engineer to work within the Cloud Platform team at Improving. Improving is an IT services firm focused on AI, Data, and Applications, helping organizations modernize legacy systems and build cloud-native platforms that are future-ready. In this role, we will focus on delivering reliable, secure, and scalable platform capabilities that enable our clients’ cloud deployments and platform systems to run smoothly in production. You will help implement platform security controls and authentication mechanisms, develop infrastructure-as-code for cloud provisioning and scaling, and support core platform services used by multiple application teams.

As a Platform Engineer, you will

We need a Software/Platform Engineer who combines strong Java engineering with real cloud infrastructure and platform work. You will be responsible for building, operating, and improving core platform systems that support our client’s cloud environments.

• Implement and maintain platform security controls and authentication mechanisms across the platform.
• Develop infrastructure code for cloud deployments and scaling using Infrastructure-as-Code practices.
• Build, support, and evolve core platform systems that enable platform reliability and developer productivity.
• Contribute to platform hardening and operational readiness, ensuring secure-by-design workflows.
• Collaborate with client stakeholders and internal teams to understand requirements and translate them into maintainable platform capabilities.
• Perform other responsibilities as directed by the client, aligned with platform engineering needs.

How we think about the work: this is not a traditional DevOps role. We want someone who can design and implement platform software and infrastructure together—turning Java expertise into scalable, secure cloud platform outcomes.
