Solutions Architect - IIOT
Indexed description
We are looking for an experienced IoT Solutions Architect with strong hands-on background in Industrial IoT (IIoT) to design, architect, and lead end-to-end implementation of IoT solutions across manufacturing, energy, utilities, or other industrial environments. This role requires someone who has not just designed architectures on paper but has actually built, deployed, and supported IIoT solutions in real production/plant environments.
• Design end-to-end IoT/IIoT architecture — from edge devices, sensors, and gateways to cloud platforms, data pipelines, and analytics/visualization layers.
• Lead technical implementation of IIoT projects including device connectivity (OPC-UA, Modbus, MQTT, PROFINET, LoRaWAN), edge computing, and integration with SCADA/PLC/DCS/MES systems.
• Define data ingestion, storage, and processing architecture (time-series DBs, stream processing, digital twin frameworks).
• Select and integrate appropriate IoT platforms (AWS IoT, Azure IoT Hub, GCP IoT, PTC ThingWorx, Siemens MindSphere, etc.) based on client/business needs.
• Own solution architecture from PoC to production rollout, including scalability, security, and reliability considerations.
• Collaborate with OT/IT teams to bridge industrial systems with enterprise IT and cloud infrastructure.
• Define and implement IoT security architecture — device authentication, data encryption, network segmentation (IT/OT security).
• Create technical documentation: architecture diagrams, solution blueprints, deployment guides, and SOPs.
• Work closely with sales/pre-sales teams for solutioning, technical proposals, and client presentations.
• Design and deploy LoRaWAN-based sensor networks, including gateway placement, network server configuration, and device provisioning.
• Troubleshoot and resolve architecture-level issues during deployment and post-production support.
• 4–5 years in IoT/embedded systems/industrial automation, with hands-on experience in IIoT solution architecture and implementation.
• Proven experience implementing (not just designing) IIoT solutions — device onboarding, edge deployment, cloud integration, dashboarding.
• Strong knowledge of industrial protocols: OPC-UA, Modbus, MQTT, PROFINET, BACnet, etc.
• Hands-on experience with LoRaWAN technologies — network architecture, gateway/end-node deployment, network server platforms (e.g., The Things Stack, ChirpStack), and LoRaWAN device integration.
• Hands-on experience with one or more IoT/cloud platforms: AWS IoT Core/Greengrass, Azure IoT Hub/Edge, GCP Cloud IoT, PTC ThingWorx, Siemens MindSphere, Litmus, or similar.
• Experience with edge computing devices/gateways (e.g., Dell Edge Gateways, Advantech, Siemens IoT2050, Raspberry Pi/industrial variants).
• Understanding of SCADA, PLC, DCS, MES, and OT network architecture.
• Experience with time-series databases (InfluxDB, TimescaleDB) and data visualization tools (Grafana, Power BI).
• Knowledge of containerization (Docker/Kubernetes) for edge/cloud deployments.
• Familiarity with IoT security best practices (device identity, PKI, network segmentation).
• Strong scripting/programming skills (Python, Node.js, or similar) for automation and integration work.
• Experience working directly at customer/plant sites for deployment, commissioning, and troubleshooting is a strong plus.
• Certifications such as AWS/Azure IoT specialty, CSSA, or relevant OT security certifications.
• Experience with digital twin implementations.
• Exposure to predictive maintenance / condition monitoring use cases.
• Prior experience in manufacturing, energy, utilities, or process industries.
- • B.E./B.Tech in Electronics, Computer Science, Instrumentation, or related field (M.Tech/MS preferred but not mandatory).
