Senior Engineer, Wallet

Own the money layer. Build and harden the Zela Wallet across 30+ countries: local payment rails, FX, cash-outs, escrow for brand deals.

What you'll do

• Design and ship multi-currency wallet services for creators across Nigeria, Kenya, Ghana, South Africa, Brazil, Mexico, the Philippines, and more
• Integrate local payment rails: Paystack, Flutterwave, M-Pesa, Pix, SPEI, GCash
• Build escrow flows for brand-deal payouts including dispute handling
• Drive FX cost down: own the spread, partner negotiations, settlement timing
• Lead reliability work: idempotency, double-entry ledger, reconciliation, monitoring

What we're looking for

• 5+ years building production payment or fintech systems
• Strong Postgres + TypeScript or Go
• Real-world experience with at least one African payment processor
• Comfort with ambiguity and ownership; this role reports directly to a founder

Bonus, not required

• Prior work at a Nigerian fintech (Kuda, Flutterwave, Paystack, Carbon, Cowrywise, Bamboo)
• PCI-DSS / SOC 2 experience
• Open-source contributions to ledger or accounting libraries
