# Remote Electricity Power Dispatcher for an Energy Operations Company **Work From Anywhere in the Philippines** **Work Schedule:** Mountain Time (Alberta) | 6:00 PM – 6:00 AM MT, 12.5-hour shifts on a seven-day rotation (three on, three off or similar). These hours fall during daytime in the Philippines. ## About Pearl Talent Pearl works with the top 1% of candidates from around the world and connects them with the best startups in the US and EU. Our clients have raised over $5B in aggregate and are backed by companies like OpenAI, a16z, and Founders Fund. They're looking for the sharpest, hungriest candidates who they can consistently promote and work with over many years. Candidates we've hired have been flown out to the US and EU to work with their clients, and even promoted to roles that match folks onshore in the US. ## About the Client A Canadian energy operations company managing generation assets in Alberta's electricity market is looking for an Electricity Power Dispatcher to run daily operational planning and real-time grid coordination for a 24/7 operations center. The company operates a round-the-clock control function that sits between its own generation assets, the on-site operators who run them, and the Independent System Operator that governs the market. It is building out a remote dispatch crew to cover the overnight Alberta window, with company-provided equipment and secure VPN access to all operating systems. ## About the Role Mornings run on a hard deadline: between 6:30 AM and 10:00 AM Alberta time you build and submit the daily operational plan, determine what each asset will do today and tomorrow, and get that plan accepted by the system operator before the market window closes. After 10:00 AM the work shifts to monitoring web-based portals, holding compliance against the accepted plan, and responding to system operator notifications within a two-minute window while coordinating on-site operators and internal teams. Success is zero missed market deadlines, zero missed response windows, and every communication loop closed and confirmed before the handover. ## Core Responsibilities **Morning Operations Planning (40%)** - Build and submit the daily operational plan between 6:30 AM and 10:00 AM Alberta time for current and next-day asset activity. - Submit asset offers to the Independent System Operator ahead of market deadlines. - Confirm plan acceptance by the system operator before moving into monitoring mode. - Coordinate across internal teams and on-site operators to close out plans inside the morning window. **Real-Time Monitoring and Compliance (35%)** - Monitor operations against the accepted plan for the remainder of the shift. - Track web-based portals and communication systems for alerts, notifications, and system operator messages. - Respond to system operator notifications within two minutes, coordinating all affected stakeholders. - Verify that instructed actions are executed and confirmations are received, with no open loops left running. **Stakeholder Communication and Coordination (25%)** - Act as the communication hub between on-site generation asset operators, system operators, and internal teams. - Apply documented operating procedures when alerts trigger: categorize the issue, contact the right parties, gather information, and relay updates. - Run direct operational communication with external operators by internet-routed phone and digital channels. - Complete a 15-minute handover at both ends of each shift and join quarterly cross-team sessions with the Alberta-based crew. ## Requirements **Must-Have** - 2+ years currently working as a Power Dispatcher, System Operator, Grid Operator, or Control Center Operator in the Philippine utility or energy sector, active in the role today - Hands-on Independent System Operator (ISO) coordination, including building and submitting daily operational plans or asset offers within market deadlines - Energy trading or generation asset dispatch experience covering market offers, scheduling, or grid compliance - 24/7 operations center experience with documented response-time requirements under five minutes - External-facing operational communication with on-site operators, system operators, or regulatory bodies via phone and web-based portals - Availability for 12.5-hour shifts covering 6:00 PM – 6:00 AM Mountain Time on a seven-day rotation including holidays, with wired internet plus a documented backup connection (separate-provider LTE hotspot or satellite) - C1+ English (CEFR) for real-time phone coordination with external operators and system operators **Nice-to-Have** - Coding or scripting ability for workflow automation (Python, VBA, or equivalent micro-scripts) - SCADA or energy management system (EMS) platform experience - Dispatcher certification or a power systems / electrical engineering credential - Track record of onboarding quickly onto multiple web-based operations portals - Experience across more
