Job Description:
At least 8 years of experience as a Java Technical Lead, Java Technical Architect, or Senior Java Software Engineer, ideally with exposure to fee-based product domains (Fees, Billing, Commissions, Charges, Revenue Management, or similar platforms), along with strong Financial Services domain experience (Banking, Wealth Management, and/or Asset Management).
Experience Required:
- At least 8 years of experience as Technical Lead, Technical Architect or Senior Software Engineer
- Strong experience with Java, Spring and API-based architectures
- Experience with Agile delivery methods (Scrum)
- Strong experience with SQL and relational databases
- Demonstrated leadership, coaching and mentoring capabilities
- Financial Services Domain experience (Banking / Wealth Mgmt / Asset Mgmt)
- Good knowledge of CI/CD, Git, Maven and modern software engineering practices
- Preferred: Kubernetes, Docker and container-based deployments
- Preferred: Kafka, MQSeries or equivalent messaging technologies
- Proven experience designing and evolving enterprise-grade software architectures
- Experience in complex, business-critical environments, ideally in financial services
- Strong analytical skills, autonomy and ownership mindset
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills
Key Responsibilities:
- Own the technical vision and target architecture of the Fees platform
- Define architectural principles, engineering standards and development practices
- Design and implement high-performance Java-based solutions
- Lead technical design decisions and architecture reviews
- Contribute hands-on to development of key components and strategic initiatives
- Support the ramp-up of a new nearshore engineering team in Portugal
- Coach engineers and promote engineering excellence across the team
- Coordinate development between teams in Switzerland and Portugal
- Act as a bridge between business stakeholders and engineering teams
- Identify technical risks, dependencies and architectural improvement opportunities
- Drive platform modernization, technical debt reduction and continuous improvement
- Promote DevOps practices, CI/CD adoption and software industrialisation
- Provide Tier 3 support for complex production incidents and lead root cause analysis
- Ensure security, resiliency and operational readiness in technical solutions
- Produce and maintain architecture documentation, road maps and design standards
