We are looking for a talented Product Design Technician - Level IV to join our team in Engineeringfor Cummins Darlington, County Durham, United Kingdom.
Working expectation: 37.5 per week on site with flexibility
In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways:
- Develop Product Designs by supporting the Virtual Product Introduction (VPI) process to create and modify engine components using CAD, engineering analysis, and risk management tools.
- Manage Product Changes by controlling design modifications throughout the product lifecycle, ensuring accurate configuration management and timely implementation of engineering changes.
- Produce High-Quality CAD Models and Drawings by creating, reviewing, and maintaining detailed models, assemblies, drawings, and product specifications in accordance with Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) standards.
- Ensure Design Compliance by applying company, industry, national, and international engineering standards, maintaining drawing quality, and supporting configuration control through CAD data management systems.
- Support Engineering Activities by processing engineering work requests, developing concept models, creating master CAD models for tooling, and collaborating with engineering teams to ensure design feasibility and component fit.
- Validate and Review Designs by participating in or leading drawing and design quality reviews, checking models and drawings prior to release, and analyzing designs using appropriate engineering tools to ensure performance and manufacturability.
- Lead and Mentor Team Members by providing technical guidance, mentoring and training Product Design Technicians, coordinating work priorities, and promoting best practices across the team.
- Drive Continuous Improvement by contributing to the development and maintenance of design standards, improving engineering processes, and supporting high-quality, efficient product development throughout the design cycle.
To be successful in this role you will need the following:
- Degree, HND, HNC, apprenticeship, or equivalent qualification in a STEM discipline (Mechanical Engineering, Product Design, or a related field), with experience in mechanical product design and development.
- Proficiency in CAD software and mechanical design modelling, with the ability to create accurate 3D models, assemblies, and detailed engineering drawings in accordance with company standards.
- Strong understanding of mechanical design principles, including the design of mechanical systems, design analysis, and the application of engineering tools to develop robust, manufacturable products that meet customer and business requirements.
- Experience producing engineering specifications, including solid models, engineering bills of materials (BOMs), detailed drawings, and GD&T, while ensuring compliance with company, industry, and international standards.
- Knowledge of product configuration and change management, with the ability to manage engineering changes, maintain configuration control, and support products throughout the complete design lifecycle.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively across cross-functional teams, clearly communicate technical information, and support design reviews, mentoring, and continuous improvement initiatives.

- Requires significant relevant work experience or specialized skills obtained through education, training or on-the-job experience.
