Technical Privacy Investigator - TikTok PDPO - Dublin

Responsibilities

PDPO(Privacy and Data Protection Office) is the organization to lead, supervise, and empower all TikTok's privacy work in an accountable and industry leading way. This team is the expert in the landscape of privacy risks and passionate about consulting across the company on implementing the proper safeguards and technical mitigations to ensure that our users' privacy is honored across TikTok's products and platforms.

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated individual to join our team as a Technical Privacy Investigator. In this role, you will be responsible for conducting thorough investigations and assessments to ensure compliance with privacy regulations and policies. You will leverage your technical expertise to analyze data, identify privacy risks, and recommend appropriate remedial actions. The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of privacy laws, data protection practices, and a passion for maintaining data privacy and security.

- Investigate privacy issues: analyze evidence, determine root cause, assess impact, and define remediation.
- Work with technical partners (engineering, security, data): drive containment, evidence collection, and fixes.
- Assess privacy risk in systems, data flows, and processes; propose pragmatic mitigation plans.
- Ensure compliant incident handling: follow PDPO/Response SOPs, maintain traceability, and support audit readiness.
- Improve the program: turn incident learnings into repeatable playbooks, detection/monitoring opportunities, and prevention insights.
- Communicate clearly: produce concise investigation narratives and recommendations for both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualification(s)
- Bachelor's degree (or above) in Computer Science, Information Security, or a related field.
- 2+ years of experience in incident investigation, security/privacy operations, risk assessment, or a similar technical role.
- Solid understanding of privacy and data protection concepts; familiarity with GDPR and common privacy/security practices.
- Comfortable working with logs, large datasets, and technical evidence.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail; able to work through ambiguous incidents with incomplete information.
- Clear written and verbal communication; able to explain technical findings and propose actionable remediation.

Preferred Qualification(s)
- Scripting/analysis skills (e.g., Python/SQL)
- Industry-recognized privacy or security certifications (e.g., CIPT, CIPP/E, CDPSE, CISSP, GCIH, or equivalent).
- A highly motivated individual, with strong communication and relationship-building skills, and demonstrates a record of ongoing accomplishment and commitment to excellence.
- Accustomed to working in a fast-paced environment. Adaptable to changing or emerging priorities.
- Experience working hands-on with cross-functional teams including legal, procurement, information security, business continuity, privacy, and IT engineering.
