Position Summary

Varmoda is seeking an experienced Software Solutions Architect to lead the design, development, and implementation of enterprise-scale Salesforce solutions within a highly regulated public-sector environment. This role will be responsible for modernizing legacy applications, defining enterprise architecture standards, and ensuring the delivery of secure, scalable, and high-performing solutions that support critical business operations. The ideal candidate will bring deep Salesforce architecture expertise, strong technical leadership capabilities, and experience guiding large-scale digital transformation initiatives from strategy through implementation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead end-to-end architecture, solution design, and implementation of enterprise Salesforce applications supporting case management, service delivery, field operations, and stakeholder engagement.
  • Conduct platform health assessments and architectural reviews, providing recommendations aligned with Salesforce best practices and Well-Architected Framework principles.
  • Facilitate discovery sessions, architecture workshops, and technical planning meetings with business and technical stakeholders.
  • Provide technical leadership, mentorship, and architectural governance to development teams, contractors, and project stakeholders.
  • Translate complex business and technical requirements into scalable, maintainable, and secure solutions.
  • Lead proof-of-concept (POC) initiatives to validate business requirements, technical feasibility, and architectural direction.
  • Ensure Secure Application Development Lifecycle (SADLC) practices are followed throughout design, development, testing, and deployment activities.
  • Define and maintain technical roadmaps, architecture standards, and platform governance strategies.
  • Support mission-critical enterprise applications requiring high availability, scalability, security, and operational reliability.
  • Ensure compliance with organizational security, performance, regulatory, and data governance requirements.
  • Lead software application development, integration services, APIs, and enterprise platform enhancements.
  • Coordinate system integration efforts involving business units, external partners, third-party vendors, and hosting environments.
  • Design and implement application security controls aligned with enterprise standards and best practices.
  • Conduct impact assessments related to legislative, business, operational, and technology changes.
  • Review and approve technical designs, architecture documentation, system engineering deliverables, and deployment strategies.
  • Ensure all technology solutions adhere to enterprise architecture standards, policies, and development guidelines.
  • Collaborate with Agile teams and product owners to maintain backlog priorities, release schedules, and development roadmaps.
  • Provide technical recommendations and architectural guidance for application modernization initiatives.
  • Resolve complex system architecture, performance, integration, and security challenges.
  • Research emerging technologies and recommend improvements to development tools, architectures, processes, and platform capabilities.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Information Systems, Software Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience gathering and analyzing business and technical requirements in collaboration with stakeholders.
  • Minimum 5 years of hands-on Salesforce development and architecture experience.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience with SQL, Java, web services, and enterprise application development.
  • Experience designing and implementing Salesforce solutions using Sales Cloud, Service Cloud, Experience Cloud, and related Salesforce technologies.
  • Experience designing and implementing CI/CD pipelines, including:
    • Pipeline-as-Code
    • Branching strategies
    • Automated code reviews
    • Automated testing
    • Release automation
  • Strong knowledge of software architecture, system integration, API design, and cloud application development.
  • Experience leading enterprise-scale application development teams and technical initiatives.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Experience implementing security best practices throughout the software development lifecycle.
  • Strong problem-solving, troubleshooting, and technical leadership capabilities.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Salesforce Architect certification.
  • Experience leading enterprise-level Salesforce implementations and digital transformation programs.
  • Experience supporting highly regulated industries such as government, healthcare, human services, insurance, or financial services.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience working within Agile development environments.
  • Strong Oracle SQL development experience, including query optimization and performance tuning.
  • Experience implementing DevOps practices, including automated builds, regression testing, smoke testing, and multi-environment deployment strategies.
  • Experience modernizing legacy applications and migrating systems to cloud-based platforms.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead technical teams, resolve complex system challenges, and establish enterprise architecture standards.
  • Experience integrating Salesforce with external enterprise applications, databases, and third-party platforms.

Certifications & Clearance

Required Certifications

  • Minimum of 2–3 Salesforce Certifications.

Preferred Certifications

  • Salesforce Application Architect Certification.
  • Salesforce System Architect Certification.
  • Salesforce Certified Technical Architect (CTA).
  • Salesforce Platform Developer Certifications.
  • Database Certifications (Oracle, SQL Server, or related technologies).
  • DevOps, Cloud Architecture, or Enterprise Architecture Certifications.
