The Product Manager provides product direction to the Product Owner, Business Analyst, and cross-functional delivery team, with guidance from senior product leadership. This role leads through influence, aligning business, technical, and vendor needs to deliver scalable solutions and measurable business value.
Responsibilities
Strategy & Prioritization:
- Own the Vendor Portal strategy, roadmap, and priorities in alignment with business objectives and vendor needs.
- Identify and prioritize opportunities using vendor feedback, portal usage, support and operational data, and internal stakeholder needs.
- Establish product goals and success measures and make informed trade-offs based on business value, user impact, effort, risk, integration dependencies, and delivery capacity.
- Maintain a clear product roadmap and communicate priorities, decisions, and changes to stakeholders and delivery teams.
- Lead product discovery with vendors and internal stakeholders to identify needs and validate problems and potential solutions before significant investment.
- Own the end-to-end vendor experience, including self-service capabilities, usability, onboarding, task completion, and error handling, with a focus on enabling vendors to successfully complete key activities with minimal training or support.
- Provide product direction to the Product Owner, Business Analyst, and delivery team on requirements, backlog priorities, and release readiness while managing scope, risk, and dependencies.
- Drive successful external releases in partnership with cross-functional teams, including launch planning, vendor communications, adoption, and change management.
- Ensure delivered solutions meet defined business, vendor, and product objectives and incorporate learnings into future priorities.
- Own the product perspective for integrations between the Vendor Portal and back-office, ERP, procurement, accounts payable, and other supporting systems.
- Define business requirements for data flows, systems of record, validation rules, and reconciliation to ensure vendor-submitted data is accurate and usable downstream.
- Partner with architecture and technical teams on API design, integration requirements, error handling, reprocessing, and system reliability.
- Identify opportunities to leverage automation and AI to reduce manual processes, improve data quality, and enhance the vendor and internal user experience.
- Serve as the primary product point of contact for the Vendor Portal, building alignment across business and technical stakeholders.
- Communicate product priorities, progress, decisions, dependencies, and risks, escalating significant conflicts or barriers as appropriate.
- Define and monitor product KPIs, including adoption and self-service rates, task completion, integration error rates, support volume, and vendor onboarding time.
- Use product performance data, operational insights, and vendor feedback to evaluate outcomes and continuously refine priorities after launch.
- Champion scalable, secure, user-centered solutions that balance vendor experience with business and operational requirements.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, Operations Management, or a related field required; Master’s degree or MBA preferred.
- Relevant certifications in product management, project/program management, Agile, IT service management, or related disciplines preferred.
- 5+ years of progressive experience in product management, product ownership, business analysis, or related digital product roles supporting software or digital products, including demonstrated experience contributing to product strategy, prioritization, and delivery.
- Experience supporting the development and delivery of external-facing digital products or applications.
- Experience working with system integrations, APIs, or data flows between applications and back-office systems.
- Experience across key stages of the product lifecycle, including discovery, prioritization, delivery, launch, and adoption.
- Working knowledge of Agile product development and delivery practices.
- Knowledge of ERP or back-office business processes, such as procurement, accounts payable, order-to-cash, or master data management, preferred.
- Experience with vendor, supplier, customer, or partner portals preferred.
- Experience in fuel, logistics, supply chain, or another B2B operational environment preferred.
- Exceptional ability to communicate complex information to technical and nontechnical stakeholders, including executive leadership and external users.
- Strong leadership, collaboration, decision-making, and influencing skills, with the ability to lead effectively across organizational and functional boundaries without direct authority.
- Strong business acumen and ability to evaluate technology decisions through financial, operational, customer, risk, and technical perspectives.
- Ability to navigate ambiguity, competing priorities, and changing business conditions while maintaining accountability and a strong service orientation.
- This position follows a hybrid work schedule of three days in the office and two days remote, business conditions permitting. Eligibility for the hybrid work schedule begins after successful completion of the ninety-day introductory period, during which training will occur onsite.
- Planned overnight travel to Company locations or customer/business meetings may be required and may occasionally include weekends or holidays.
- Ability to perform prolonged computer-based work and review detailed information on screens and documents.
- Must be willing to work flexible or extended hours as necessary during critical implementations, incidents, or other business needs, which may include nights and weekends.
