Senior Technical Business Analyst

Are you comfortable moving between business needs, data and technology — and turning complex requirements into solutions that can actually be delivered?

We are looking for a professional to play a key role in shaping data, analytics and AI solutions within SAS Viya and AWS environments. You will be involved from the early stages of requirement definition, helping ensure that business objectives are aligned with available data, existing systems, integrations and technical capabilities.

Your role will be to connect the two sides: translating business needs into clear functional, data and technical requirements, while turning technical outcomes, constraints and model outputs into practical business implications.

You will work closely with Business Analysts, Solution Architects, Data Scientists, Data Analysts, Data Engineers and the wider implementation team, including external delivery partners.

What you'll do

• Work with Business Analysts to understand business needs, processes and use cases and translate them into clear functional, data and technical requirements.
• Assess whether requirements can be delivered within the existing SAS Viya and AWS environment, identifying technical, system, data and integration prerequisites and dependencies.
• Collaborate with Solution Architects and implementation teams to shape technically feasible solutions and recommend alternatives when requirements cannot be implemented as initially defined, clearly explaining their benefits, limitations and business impact.
• Analyze data availability, structure and quality together with Data Analysts, Data Scientists and Data Engineers.
• Map business concepts and rules to the relevant systems, data and technical processes.
• Contribute to defining integrations, data flows, model outputs and how those outputs are used by other systems and business processes.
• Support implementation by clarifying requirements, reviewing intermediate results and identifying gaps or deviations from agreed requirements.
• Define and validate acceptance criteria and contribute to functional testing, integration testing and UAT.
• Translate technical findings, data insights and model outputs into clear business implications for Business Analysts and clients, and help identify how technical results can be applied within business processes.
• Support backlog refinement and delivery, ensuring requirements, technical dependencies, expected outputs and acceptance criteria are clearly defined and aligned with the original business needs.
• Monitor relevant backlog items from a requirements perspective, identifying deviations, open questions and potential scope changes.
• When needed, contribute to proposal development by analyzing business, technical and data requirements, defining prerequisites and dependencies, assessing feasibility and complexity with technical teams, and preparing and presenting the functional-technical part of the proposed solution.

What we're looking for

• Experience in Technical Business Analysis, ideally within data, analytics, AI/ML or complex information systems.
• Strong functional and technical understanding of SAS Viya, including data preparation and analytical processes, scoring and model outputs, and their integration with other systems.
• Working knowledge of AWS and cloud environments, including data processing, storage, integrations, security and development/test/production environments.
• Good understanding of data flows, integrations, data pipelines and the lifecycle of analytical and machine learning solutions.
• Knowledge of SQL and hands-on experience with data analysis.
• Strong ability to translate business requirements into functional and technical specifications, and technical outcomes, dependencies and constraints into a clear business context.
• Experience working across business and technical teams, including Solution Architects and data specialists, with the ability to produce clear documentation and support functional/integration testing and UAT.

Please note: This is not a SAS Viya or AWS administration role, nor a cloud architecture position. The role requires sufficient technical depth to assess requirements, identify dependencies and work effectively with architecture and implementation teams.
