Job Overview
The Senior Network and Infrastructure Engineer plays a key role in executing assigned IT tasks. This includes supporting the reliability, performance, security, and documentation of the company’s multi-site network environment, with a primary emphasis on hands-on network administration.
The successful candidate will possess substantial hands-on experience with switching, routing, firewalls, wireless networks, VPNs, VLANs, subnetting, network segmentation, and advanced troubleshooting. This position may also provide support for related infrastructure and cybersecurity initiatives; however, the primary responsibilities of the role are network administration, technical ownership, and the consistent support of the company’s network environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Administer and troubleshoot enterprise switching, routing, firewall, wireless, VPN, VLAN, circuit, and IP addressing environments.
- Maintain network documentation, including diagrams, device inventories, IP addressing schemes, DHCP scopes, firewall rules, circuit details, and configuration standards.
- Analyze and resolve connectivity, routing, wireless, firewall, latency, packet loss, segmentation, and performance issues across multiple locations.
- Implement and maintain firewall policies, VPN access, NAT rules, network segmentation, and secure network configuration practices.
- Support manufacturing, warehouse, distribution, and OT network requirements while maintaining secure separation from business systems.
- Coordinate network upgrades, WAN connectivity, SD-WAN administration, ISP support, circuit changes, hardware replacements, vendor support, and infrastructure project work.
- Manage ISP relationships and circuit lifecycle activities, including new service requests, renewals, upgrades, disconnects, billing coordination, outage escalation, and documentation.
- Assist with cybersecurity alerts, vulnerability remediation, incident response, and security tools when network expertise is required.
- Support related servers, VMware, backups, patching, authentication integrations, and disaster recovery testing as assigned.
- Assist with escalated helpdesk tickets where network or infrastructure expertise is required.
- Participate in scheduled maintenance, on-call escalation, emergency changes, and routine system maintenance. Perform other duties as assigned.
- Minimum 5 years of progressive experience in network administration, infrastructure support, or a closely related role.
- Strong hands-on experience with enterprise switching, routing, firewalls, wireless, VPNs, VLANs, subnetting, and network troubleshooting.
- Experience supporting multi-site environments and documenting network standards, configurations, and procedures.
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, networking, engineering, information technology, or equivalent industry experience.
- Preferred but not required: CCNA/CCNP, JNCIA, Aruba Certified Professional, Network+, or similar networking certifications.
- Preferred: Experience supporting manufacturing, warehousing, distribution, or operational technology network environments.
