Senior IT Architect - Service Architecture & Transformation (m/f/d)
Indexed description
Terma delivers the Architecture and Transformation Support service to ESOC for which we are looking for a Senior IT Architect to own the architecture, transformation and planning deliverables for these services, working alongside our technology-innovation and service-strategy teams.
The position will include tasks such as:
- Produce and maintain the MOI-IT and OCC architecture (service perspectives, logical sub-systems, supplier dependencies, network zones and connectivity) and issue a formal release twice a year. Keep it consistent with the service catalogue and show what is being transformed or decommissioned.
- Maintain the Transformation Framework (objectives, roles, workflows, KPIs) and the five-year Transformation Roadmap, analysing the gap between the current and the target architecture and setting out the technical and budget alternatives.
- Turn the roadmap into an annual Short-Term Plan covering grouped activities, deliverables, deadlines and budget, and track its execution
- Interview service owners, technical teams, user representatives and other service providers to document existing systems, dependencies and operational requirements.
- Evaluate solution options against total cost of ownership, reliability, maintainability, security and vendor dependency, using capacity, problem and risk data from operations as both drivers and constraints.
- Report monthly on plan progress, risks and corrective actions, and quarterly on the effectiveness of the roadmap.
- Present deliverables to the ESA-appointed Service Architect, the OPS boards and working groups and the reviewers. Prepare, chair and minute these meetings, and close all review feedback before release.
- Agree proof-of-concept success criteria with the technology-innovation team (component failure resilience, performance, monitoring) and carry the results back into the roadmap.
- Hands-on experience producing IT infrastructure architectures and transformation roadmaps.
- Good technical understanding of networking, virtualisation, compute and storage, together with a working knowledge of monitoring and capacity planning in mission-critical environments.
- Experience assessing component failure resilience in systems that cannot go down.
- The ability to weigh solution options on total cost of ownership, reliability, maintainability, security and vendor dependency, and to present the trade-offs to budget holders.
- Confidence in front of governance boards, suppliers, service owners and technical teams.
- A track record of planning deliverables, meeting deadlines and closing review feedback.
