Software Architect | Large Scale Projects

About the Role

We are looking for an experienced Software Architect to define and guide the architecture of enterprise-grade software solutions for large-scale Sector projects. The role combines strong technical depth with solution design, governance and close collaboration with clients, delivery teams and senior stakeholders.

What will you need to do

Solution Architecture & Technical Leadership

·  Define and maintain the end-to-end architecture of scalable, secure and high-performance software solutions.

·  Translate business and project requirements into clear technical designs, architecture decisions and implementation roadmaps.

·  Design backend and frontend architectures, integration patterns, APIs, data flows and reusable technical components.

·  Promote appropriate design patterns, microservices principles and REST/SOAP API best practices.

·  Evaluate and select technology stacks, frameworks, tools and engineering standards based on project requirements.

·  Guide system modernisation, refactoring, performance optimisation and cloud adoption initiatives.

·  Ensure architecture decisions address security, availability, maintainability, accessibility and regulatory requirements.

Delivery, Governance & Quality

·  Provide architectural oversight throughout the full software delivery lifecycle, from discovery and design to implementation and go-live.

·  Collaborate with Project Managers, Business Analysts, Developers, QA and DevOps teams to ensure consistent and high-quality delivery.

·  Conduct architecture and code reviews, identify technical risks and define mitigation actions.

·  Establish technical governance, documentation standards, coding principles and reusable engineering practices.

·  Champion automated testing, CI/CD, monitoring, logging and observability standards.

Customer-Facing & Pre-Sales Engagement

·  Participate in technical discovery sessions, workshops and meetings with clients and stakeholders.

·  Contribute to RFP responses, technical proposals, feasibility studies and solution presentations.

·  Present architecture proposals and translate complex technical concepts into clear business value.

·  Act as a trusted technical advisor throughout the project lifecycle.

Technical Mentoring

·  Provide technical direction and mentoring to engineering teams and technical leads.

·  Promote knowledge sharing, innovation and continuous improvement across delivery teams.

What will you bring

·  Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or a related discipline.

·  Significant professional experience in software engineering, including hands-on responsibility for architecture and technical design.

·  Strong expertise in Java, Spring Boot, microservices and enterprise API design.

·  Experience with modern frontend technologies, preferably ReactJS and/or Angular.

·  Solid understanding of relational databases, data modelling, integrations and distributed systems.

·  Experience with cloud platforms, containerisation and orchestration technologies.

·  Knowledge of DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, automated testing and observability.

·  Experience in large-scale enterprise as well as Public Sector software projects will be highly valued.

·  Previous involvement in technical proposals, tenders or customer-facing solution design will be considered an asset.

Excellent communication, presentation and stakeholder management skills in Greek and English
