Solution Engineer / Linux Platform Expert

For our Zug-based client in the pharmaceutical sector, we are looking for an experienced Solution Engineer / Linux Platform Expert to join a highly specialised engineering team responsible for developing and maintaining the Linux platform that supports next-generation medical devices.

Your Responsibilities

• Take ownership of a customised Debian-based Linux platform, including kernel customisation, driver integration, and Debian package development and maintenance.
• Develop, optimise, and maintain build, test, and release processes to ensure reliable and reproducible software delivery.
• Perform advanced troubleshooting, debugging, and root-cause analysis across software, operating system, and hardware layers.
• Support development teams as a technical Linux expert, advising them on the effective use and continuous evolution of the platform.
• Identify and implement improvements related to system performance, security, automation, reliability, and engineering processes.

Your Profile

• 10+ years of hands-on experience in Linux systems engineering.
• Extensive experience building, customising, or maintaining Linux distributions, ideally Debian-based.
• Strong hands-on expertise in creating, patching, maintaining, and troubleshooting Debian (.deb) packages.
• Excellent scripting and automation skills using Python and Shell.
• Strong understanding of Linux internals, operating system concepts, and software build systems such as Make and CMake.
• Good knowledge of software testing, build, release, and packaging lifecycles.
• Experience with kernel-level components and low-level system integration.
• Professional working proficiency in English.

Nice to Have

• Experience with C/C++.
• Knowledge of embedded Linux, ARM platforms, hardware drivers, or low-level hardware/software integration.
• Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, KVM, Terraform, CI/CD, or AWS.
• Previous experience within medical technology, life sciences, or another highly regulated environment.
