We are seeking an Baremetal & Linux/KVM Engineer (L2) to provide day-2 operations support for server infrastructure, Linux operating systems, and KVM-based virtualization environments. The role focuses on maintaining stable and secure compute services through proactive operations, troubleshooting, lifecycle management, patching, and automation activities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Administer and support Linux server environments and KVM-based virtualization platforms.
- Perform day-2 operational activities including system maintenance, patching, health checks, and performance monitoring.
- Manage server hardware lifecycle activities across Dell PowerEdge and Lenovo ThinkSystem platforms.
- Coordinate firmware updates, operating system maintenance, and infrastructure upgrades.
- Troubleshoot infrastructure, operating system, hardware, and virtualization-related issues.
- Support operational automation and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Participate in incident management, problem resolution, service reviews, and change implementation activities.
- Maintain operational standards, documentation, and governance processes to ensure service stability and reliability.
Required Qualifications:
- Experience supporting Linux-based enterprise environments and virtualized infrastructure.
- Strong knowledge of Linux administration, server hardware, and KVM virtualization technologies.
- Experience troubleshooting compute infrastructure across physical and virtual environments.
- Ability to proactively identify and resolve issues before they impact service delivery.
- Strong analytical skills and adherence to operational best practices.
Preferred Certifications:
- Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA) or Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE)
- Linux Foundation Certified System Administrator (LFCS)
- Dell PowerEdge administration or implementation training
- Lenovo ThinkSystem administration or implementation training
- Additional Security, Network, Storage, or Compute infrastructure certifications are advantageous
Language Requirement:
- German language proficiency at minimum B2 level is mandatory.
- Ability to participate in technical discussions, incident coordination, service reviews, change-related communication, and daily operational interactions with German-speaking stakeholders, customers, and support teams.
Citizenship Requirement:
- Applicants must hold Swiss citizenship.
Location:
- Winterthur area, Switzerland
- Candidates should be based in, or regularly available within, the Winterthur region to support local operational alignment, customer engagement, coordination with onsite and remote-hands teams, and participation in governance, escalation, and service meetings as required.
