Electric Boat Corporation is seeking a highly motivated individual to serve as an Test Engineer in support of Navy programs in Groton and New London, CT.

Tactical Software Engineering is responsible for applying innovative submarine computer software and technologies used onboard submarines for shipboard equipment operation and control. Our teams design, develop, integrate, and test EB ‑ proprietary products that support the United States Navy Nuclear Submarine Fleet.

This Test engineering role works to ensure delivered software meets all functional, performance, and reliability requirements. Test engineers support verification, validation, integration, and readiness activities for tactical and support ‑ system software. The team ensures that all software changes are rigorously evaluated, documented, and tested before release to the fleet.

Responsibilities Include

  • Developing and executing software build procedures
  • Documenting software programming results and supporting test readiness reviews
  • Collaborating with software developers, systems engineers, and other subject matter experts to evaluate changes and identify defects
  • Supporting lab-based testing efforts and occasional onboard support for software installation and verification
  • Ensuring traceability between requirements, test activities, and delivered software capabilities
  • Contributing to continuous improvement of processes, tools, and procedures

The role may require occasional travel to support submarine-related sites. Some work ‑ from ‑ home flexibility is available, though weekly onsite participation is required .

This position involves onsite lab work at either our Groton or New London locations. A successful candidate must be comfortable following established procedures, working hands ‑ on with tactical hardware, and—on rare occasions—conducting onboard verification activities on submarines. Candidates must be able to lift up to 40 lbs.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree or similar/equivalent work experience
  • 2+ years of project management or planning experience
  • Active Secret security cleance is required

Preferred

  • US Navy, DoD contractor, or similar complexity experience.
  • Experience within military hardware, software, documentation, and drawings.
  • Experience with ISO 9000, AS-9001, CMMI, and ESD programs is desirable.
  • Execution and implementation of Process Improvement / Lean Six Sigma methodologies
  • Familiarity with Linux OS

  • Demonstrated initiative and ability to work independently while supporting a team
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage time and priorities effectively
  • Willingness and ability to execute written and verbal communications with stakeholders, and internal/external customers
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and comfort with technical documentation
  • Strong written and verbal communication abilities
  • Willingness to proactively engage technical experts and cross-functional teams
  • Ability to independently seek information needed to resolve issues or make decisions
