The Job Role As Cloud Hosting Engineer
The purpose of this role is to contribute to the modernization and migration of on-premises workloads to Azure, moving beyond lift-and-shift to optimize for cloud-native architecture. The role also involves deploying, managing, and administrating Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS), with OpenShift knowledge considered a plus, and working with other Azure services to support cloud projects. It also focuses on automating deployments and operational processes using tools such as PowerShell, Terraform, and Ansible, supporting containerization, and implementing DevOps practices to enable scalable, efficient, and secure cloud solutions.
What You’ll Do
- Work with Cloud Operation Engineers and Cloud Hosting Engineers to move workloads beyond lift-and-shift, contributing to cloud modernization projects.
- Deploy, manage, and administer containerized environments, including Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS), with OpenShift knowledge considered a plus.
- Containerize applications currently running on VMs and support migrations to Azure PaaS services where appropriate.
- Work with Linux systems, ensuring smooth operation, configuration, and troubleshooting of workloads in cloud environments.
- Collaborate across teams to implement best practices for scalability, reliability, security, and performance in Azure cloud projects.
- Automate deployment and operational processes using PowerShell, Terraform, Ansible, and other tools.
- Hands-on experience with Azure cloud services, including IaaS, PaaS, and containerized environments like AKS, OpenShift knowledge is a plus.
- Experience contributing to on-premises to Azure migrations, modernization of workloads, and moving beyond lift-and-shift approaches.
- Proficiency in automating deployments and operations using PowerShell, Terraform, Ansible, or similar tools.
- Strong Linux administration skills for managing cloud workloads and containerized applications.
- Experience with containerization of applications, DevOps practices, and CI/CD pipelines
- Understanding of Azure networking, security, and best practices for designing scalable, highly available cloud solutions.
- Excellent communication skills, able to clearly explain technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
