Indexed description

A trading technology firm is hiring engineers from the broader technology industry, with no requirement for prior finance experience. The work is systems engineering under real constraints: latency that matters, correctness that is not negotiable, and scale that comes from markets rather than users. Engineers here own systems end to end, from design through production, and the feedback on whether a design was good arrives in hours rather than quarters. The firm runs on a small number of very strong engineers, and the density of the team is the point. If a system this role builds behaves incorrectly during a volatile session, the cost is immediate and measurable, which is why the engineering bar is set where it is.

What You'll Do

  • Design and build core systems in production, owning them from architecture through deployment and operation
  • Work on performance sensitive problems where microseconds and correctness both count
  • Solve genuinely hard distributed systems, concurrency, and data problems at scale
  • Collaborate closely with traders and quantitative researchers, who are technical and will engage with your design decisions
  • Set and hold engineering standards on a team where every person is expected to raise the average

Must-haves

  • 4 or more years of strong software engineering experience
  • Deep expertise in at least one systems language. Any language considered: C++, Rust, Java, Go, Python, C#, or otherwise. What matters is depth, not which one
  • Demonstrated ability to reason about performance, concurrency, and correctness in production systems
  • Strong computer science fundamentals
  • Evidence of having been one of the strongest engineers on a strong team

Nice-to-haves

  • Low latency, real time, or high throughput systems experience
  • Linux systems level work, networking, or kernel adjacent exposure
  • Experience at a company known for a high engineering bar
  • Open source contributions or competitive programming background
  • Any exposure to markets or trading, though it is genuinely not required

Why This Role

Most strong engineers in technology spend their careers waiting to find out whether their work mattered. Here the answer is immediate, the systems are technically demanding on their own merits, and the people around you are as good as anyone you have worked with, which is the part engineers say they miss most when they leave. The teams are small, the autonomy is real, and there is no layer of process between a good idea and production. Comp is top of market, and it is set to make this a straightforward decision for engineers leaving big technology firms. For an engineer who has hit the ceiling of interesting problems at a large technology company and wants to be surrounded by people who are unmistakably excellent, this is that.

Who should apply

Engineers from top technology companies, infrastructure teams, and hard systems backgrounds are actively encouraged to apply. No finance background required, and no prior trading knowledge is expected.
