Position Summary
This position is responsible for developing, optimizing, and sustaining manufacturing processes for the organization's components and systems. The scope of this role includes processing of subcomponents as well as final assembly of completed devices. This role focuses on maintaining documented processes, procedures, fixturing, and training of Operator(s), improving production efficiency, and quality while ensuring compliance with safety and industry standards. The Process Engineer plays a key role in supporting assembly, machining, testing, of their world class products.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:
- Develop and optimize manufacturing processes for pneumatic components and assemblies to improve efficiency and quality
- Draft/implement written procedures to outline manufacturing or assembly steps
- Implement process fixturing to facility manufacturing or assembly steps
- Analyze production data (cycle time, scrap, downtime) and implement process improvements
- Lead Process-based investigations and corrective actions associated with Nonconforming Reports (NCRs) and/or Return Material Authorization (RMAs) related to leakage, pressure loss, sealing, and product performance
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives using Lean, Six Sigma, or similar methodologies
- Support new product introduction (NPI), including process design, tooling, and validation
- Collaborate with design engineering to ensure manufacturability (DFM) of pneumatic products
- Implement and improve automated assembly, testing systems, and process controls
- Conduct root cause analysis and ensure compliance with safety and quality standards (e.g., ISO)
Minimum Qualifications
- 3+ years of experience in manufacturing, preferably with mechanical or pneumatic products
- Demonstrated experience with assembly processes, machining operations (CNC), and precision components
- Basic understanding of tolerance stack-up
- General understanding of sealing methods (O-rings, gaskets), and leak prevention
- Familiarity with pressure and flow testing methods and equipment
- Proficiency in data analysis and process improvement tools (Excel, Minitab, SPC)
- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
- Strong mechanical aptitude and systems thinking
- Detail-oriented with a focus on precision and quality
- Effective communication and cross-functional collaboration
- Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced production environment
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in pneumatic or fluid power manufacturing industry
- Sig Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification
- Knowledge of ISO-9001 or similar quality standards
- Familiarity with CAD software (SolidWorks, AutoCAD) for tooling and fixture design
- Experience with error-proofing (Poka-Yoke)
- Experience with Statistical Process Control (SPC)
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related field
- Master’s degree in Engineering a plus
