Lead Technical Program Manager - Low Latency Market Trading
Indexed description
Leverage your deep technical expertise and leadership to guide cutting-edge projects, fostering growth and innovation in a dynamic environment.
As a Lead Technical Program Manager in Corporate Technology, you will lead the delivery of complex, high-impact technology programs supporting electronic trading across multi-asset, low-latency market environments (e.g., equities, FX, rates, credit, listed derivatives). You will apply strong technical fluency and pragmatic electronic trading domain knowledge (not "deep specialist" level) to drive measurable business outcomes-improving latency, throughput, resilience, control posture, and time-to-market. You will partner with engineering, product, trading, and operations stakeholders to deliver strategic roadmaps, manage dependencies, and ensure programs align with firm objectives. Your ability to navigate ambiguity, influence decision-making, and coordinate execution across distributed teams will be critical to success. You will help foster a culture of innovation, disciplined delivery, and continuous improvement.
Job responsibilities
- Develop and execute comprehensive program plans integrating technical requirements for electronic trading platforms (low latency, high throughput, high availability).
- Lead cross-functional teams to define program scope, objectives, milestones, and deliverables aligned with trading/business outcomes.
- Drive execution across the full trading lifecycle: market connectivity, order capture, risk checks, smart order routing / execution, market data, post-trade workflows, and observability.
- Identify and mitigate risks by proactively addressing roadblocks and implementing contingency plans across performance, resiliency, and operational readiness.
- Champion agile methodologies and pragmatic technical solutions to drive continuous learning and innovation.
- Assess program performance using data-driven metrics (e.g., delivery predictability, defect leakage, latency/throughput KPIs, stability) and implement optimizations.
- Communicate effectively with stakeholders (engineering leads, product, trading, compliance/risk, operations) to influence decisions and build strong partnerships.
- Manage resources, budgets, and high-performing teams to ensure successful program delivery across multiple workstreams/vendors.
- Contribute to operational planning, incident readiness, and risk management for production trading services (including change management and release governance).
Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills
Program / Delivery
- Proven expertise delivering complex technology programs within large organizations (multiple teams, dependencies, and senior stakeholder engagement).
- Strong analytical reasoning and structured problem-solving skills; ability to translate objectives into executable plans with clear milestones and measurable outcomes.
- Ability to manage resources, budgets, and teams in an agile delivery environment.
- Excellent stakeholder management skills, building productive relationships and influencing decisions across teams.
Electronic trading domain (broad, multi-asset-not "expert specialist")
- Working knowledge of electronic trading concepts across multiple asset classes: market structure basics, trading workflows, and the end-to-end order/execution lifecycle.
- Familiarity with common trading controls and constraints: pre-trade risk checks, credit limits, kill switches, throttles, circuit breakers, and operational controls.
- Awareness of core trading system components and patterns: market data distribution, order management/execution services, gateways/adapters, persistence, and monitoring/alerting.
- Understanding of key non-functional requirements in trading: low/ultra-low latency, determinism, jitter control, capacity planning, resiliency, and disaster recovery.
Low-latency technology fluency
- Hands-on experience delivering systems in low latency market environments, including performance engineering considerations (latency measurement, profiling, tuning, and regression prevention).
- Technical fluency including knowledge of vendor products and managing vendor relationships (connectivity, market data, execution platforms, network/hardware/software stacks).
Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills
- Experience partnering directly with front office stakeholders (trading, product, quant/strats) to prioritize roadmaps and define measurable outcomes.
- Familiarity with industry protocols and integration patterns (e.g., FIX-based order flow concepts; exchange/venue connectivity patterns; market data feed handler concepts).
- Experience with performance and resiliency practices used in trading environments (capacity tests, failover exercises, latency SLOs, post-incident reviews).
- Experience with operational planning and risk management, including release readiness, change governance, and production support models.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills; able to operate effectively in fast-paced environments with high expectations.
- Knowledge of industry-standard program/project management tools and reporting practices.
