Accounts Payable Team Lead with German

For one of our trusted clients, an international retail company and a recognized leader in its industry, we are currently seeking an Accounts Payable Team Lead with German to join their newly established Shared Service Center in Sofia.

About the Role:

The Accounts Payable Team Lead is a key position within the organization, responsible for leading the AP team for Germany BU while ensuring the efficient delivery of Procure-to-Pay services. The role combines operational expertise, people leadership, stakeholder management, and continuous process improvement to support business objectives and service excellence.

Responsibilities:

• Foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.
• Oversee maintenance of vendor master data.
• Ensure timely and accurate processing of incoming invoices (paper and electronic).
• Monitor invoice validation, approval workflows, and payment execution.
• Support month-end closing activities and related reporting.
• Resolve complex invoice discrepancies and escalated cases.
• Ensure compliance with company policies, financial controls, and accounting standards.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives across AP processes.
• Contribute to the development and optimization of accounts payable procedures and policies..
• Manage escalations and ensure effective resolution of stakeholder inquiries.
• Collaborate closely with Finance and Shared Services leadership teams.

Requirements:

• University degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Business Administration, or a related field.
• Additional professional qualification (CPA, CMA, ACCA, or similar) will be considered an advantage.
• Proven experience in Accounts Payable, Procure-to-Pay, or related finance operations.
• Previous experience leading a team within an international environment or Shared Service Center is highly desirable.
• Fluency in German and English (written and spoken).
• Strong understanding of AP processes, controls, and compliance requirements.
• Excellent communication, organizational, and stakeholder management skills.
• Proactive mindset with a strong focus on results, quality, and continuous improvement.
• Ability to work effectively in a dynamic international environment.
