Key Responsibilities
- Install, configure, administer, upgrade, and maintain IBM WebSphere Application Server (WAS) environments.
- Manage WebSphere profiles, nodes, deployment managers, clusters, JVMs, virtual hosts, JDBC providers, data sources, connection pools, and shared libraries.
- Perform application deployments, configuration changes, JVM restarts, cluster operations, and production releases.
- Configure and support IBM WebSphere Portal Server, including portal clusters, application deployments, configuration, security integration, and troubleshooting.
- Administer and support IBM Business Automation Workflow (BAW) environments.
- Support BAW application deployments, process applications, workflow services, environment configuration, and production issues.
- Configure SSL/TLS certificates, HTTPS, virtual hosts, routing, load balancing, and WebSphere plug-in configurations.
- Troubleshoot WebSphere, Portal, and BAW connectivity and application issues.
- Integrate middleware platforms with enterprise Identity and Access Management (IAM) solutions.
- Manage SSL certificates, keystores, truststores, certificate renewals, and secure communication between middleware components.
- Create and maintain Jenkins CI/CD pipelines for middleware deployments and operational automation.
- Automate application deployments, configuration changes, server restarts, and routine administrative activities using Jenkins and scripting.
- Develop and maintain Shell, Python, Jython/Wsadmin, or PowerShell scripts for middleware automation.
- Perform middleware patching, fix-pack installation, version upgrades, vulnerability remediation, and security hardening.
- Monitor JVM health, heap utilization, thread pools, JDBC connection pools, CPU, memory, application response times, and system performance.
- Analyze logs, JVM dumps, heap dumps, thread dumps, SystemOut/SystemErr logs, and application logs.
- Troubleshoot production incidents involving application availability, JVM hangs, OutOfMemory conditions, high CPU, connection issues, SSL errors, and deployment failures.
- Perform performance tuning and capacity planning for middleware environments.
- Configure high availability, clustering, failover, session persistence, and load balancing.
- Maintain technical documentation, architecture diagrams, installation procedures, operational runbooks, and troubleshooting guides.
- Coordinate with application development, infrastructure, database, security, networking, DevOps, and production support teams.
- Participate in production releases, change management, incident management, problem management, and root-cause analysis.
- Provide on-call and production support for critical enterprise middleware applications.
- Be willing to work after hours to support production maintenance windows.
- Strong hands-on experience with IBM WebSphere Application Server.
- Experience with IBM WebSphere Portal Server.
- Experience administering IBM Business Automation Workflow (BAW).
- Strong knowledge of IBM HTTP Server (IHS) Experience with IAM, LDAP, Active Directory, SSO, authentication, and authorization.
- Experience building and maintaining Jenkins CI/CD pipelines.
- Strong understanding of WebSphere clustering and high-availability architecture.
- Experience with SSL/TLS, certificates, keystores, and truststores.
- Experience with application deployment and middleware configuration.
- Experience with WebSphere wsadmin and Jython scripting Shell/Unix/Linux scripting knowledge.
- Strong Linux/Unix administration skills Knowledge of JVM configuration, garbage collection, heap analysis, and performance tuning.
- Experience troubleshooting enterprise production environments.
- Knowledge of HTTP/HTTPS, TCP/IP, DNS, load balancers, firewalls, and networking concepts.
- Experience with middleware patching, upgrades, vulnerability remediation, and security hardening.
- Familiarity with ITIL processes including incident, change, and problem management.

- Experience IBM HTTP Server 8.5/9.x

- Ansible or other infrastructure automation tools
- Splunk or similar monitoring/log-analysis tools like Dynatrace, AppDynamics, or other APM tools
- AWS or Azure cloud experience
- Containerization experience with Docker/Kubernetes/OpenShift
- DevOps and CI/CD implementation experience
- 5 yrs of Middleware Administration/Engineering experience preferred
- 2+ yrs of hands-on IBM WebSphere Application Server administration
- 2+ yrs of hands-on IBM WebSphere Portal Server administration.
- 2+ yrs of hands-on IBM WebSphere Process Server Or IBM BAW
- 2 yrs of hands-on integration with IBM IAM, IBM TIM and LDAP
- Strong production support experience in large-scale, highly available enterprise environments.
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
