Responsibilities of the Data Center Tech include:
- Serve as the primary onsite resource, coordinating daily priorities, assigning tasks, & communicating project status to management & engineering teams
- Perform hands-on rack & stack activities, including physically installing, mounting, connecting, & organizing network equipment, servers, & other data center hardware
- Install, route, label, & troubleshoot network cabling using cable matrices and established installation standards
- Support equipment decommissioning, including identifying, disconnecting, removing, & properly staging obsolete equipment to make room for new infrastructure
- Work closely with network & systems engineers to ensure equipment is physically installed, connected, & positioned correctly prior to configuration and deployment
- Support ongoing data center and network lab modernization projects, including equipment moves, installations, consolidations, & infrastructure upgrades
- Coordinate with onsite teammates, remote resources, & government customers to resolve issues and maintain project schedules
- Serve as a reliable escalation point for onsite operational issues, independently identifying solutions and communicating technical challenges to the appropriate engineering teams
- 5+ years of experience supporting data center, network lab, IT infrastructure, or related technical environments
- Hands-on experience with rack & stack, equipment installation, hardware removal, cabling, & data center operations
- Experience working with Cisco and/or Juniper network equipment in an enterprise or data center environment
- Understanding of LAN, SAN, WAN, network infrastructure, & physical connectivity
- Experience reading & working with cable matrices, equipment layouts, network diagrams, or similar technical documentation
- Familiarity with physical servers, VMware/vSphere, virtual Windows systems, & general data center/lab equipment
- Ability to work independently, troubleshoot onsite issues, coordinate priorities, & communicate effectively with engineering teams and customers
- Active Secret security clearance
- IAT Level II certification
- OS/App certification, such as Microsoft MTA, MCSA, MCTS, or equivalent
- Salary: $75,000–$82,000 depending on experience
