- Perform systems engineering activities supporting secure Navy mission systems and enterprise environments.
- Provide architectural oversight and ensure system designs align with mission, technical, cybersecurity, and operational requirements.
- Develop and maintain requirements traceability from stakeholder needs through design, implementation, verification, and validation.
- Support system integration activities across applications, infrastructure, networks, virtualization platforms, and enterprise services.
- Provide continuous software sustainment and operational support for production systems.
- Troubleshoot system, application, infrastructure, and integration issues and coordinate timely resolution.
- Plan, coordinate, and execute software updates, patches, configuration changes, and releases in live production environments.
- Support deployments designed to achieve zero or near-zero downtime with minimal operational disruption.
- Apply proactive vulnerability management practices, including vulnerability identification, remediation planning, patch implementation, and validation.
- Identify, prioritize, and remediate technical debt affecting system performance, security, reliability, maintainability, or mission effectiveness.
- Participate in Agile ceremonies and activities, including sprint planning, backlog refinement, daily standups, sprint reviews, and retrospectives.
- Apply Agile frameworks such as Scrum, Kanban, or Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe), as appropriate for defense software development and sustainment environments.
- Administer Linux and Windows enterprise servers, including deployment, configuration, hardening, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
- Deploy, configure, and maintain scalable virtualized environments, including platforms such as VMware vSphere and cloud environments such as Amazon Web Services (AWS).
- Conduct continuous system monitoring and assess system health, performance, capacity, availability, and security.
- Implement and maintain DISA Security Technical Implementation Guide (STIG) compliance across applicable systems and environments.
- Support Information Assurance (IA), cybersecurity, authorization, assessment, and continuous monitoring requirements.
- Maintain system documentation, configuration records, architecture artifacts, operating procedures, and sustainment documentation.
- Coordinate with government stakeholders, developers, cybersecurity personnel, network engineers, database administrators, and operations teams.
- Support incident response, root-cause analysis, corrective actions, and preventive maintenance activities.
- Perform other duties consistent with the Systems Engineer role and program mission requirements.
Minimum Qualifications
- Active US Top Secret/SCI or TS/SCI eligible with completed Tier 5 investigation.
- Minimum of three (3) years of demonstrated experience in systems engineering and continuous software sustainment, utilizing modern Agile methodologies to ensure seamless delivery and operational stability in production environments. Qualified experience must encompass systems engineering activities such as architectural oversight, requirements traceability, and system integration within a secure environment, alongside continuous software sustainment tasks including operational support, proactive vulnerability management, and technical debt remediation.
- Candidates must demonstrate active utilization of Agile frameworks, such as Scrum, Kanban, or Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) tailored to defense software environments, and a proven ability to push software updates to live production environments with zero or near-zero downtime and minimal operational disruption.
- Minimum of two (2) years of recent (last 5 yrs), demonstrated operational experience in enterprise server administration for both Linux and Windows operating systems, including the deployment, configuration, and maintenance of scalable virtualized environments (e.g., VMware vSphere, AWS, etc.).
- Demonstrated proficiency in executing continuous monitoring and implementing rigorous DISA STIG compliance to fulfill stringent cybersecurity and Information Assurance (IA) mandates.
- CompTIA Cloud+, CompTIA Security+, or equivalent operational certifications.
