The Archdiocese of Hartford is seeking a skilled and service-oriented IT Support Specialist to join our Information Technology team. This position plays a key role in supporting the technology needs of diocesan offices, parishes, schools, and ministries.

The ideal candidate combines strong technical troubleshooting abilities with excellent customer service skills and a desire to support the mission of the Church through technology. This role offers the opportunity to work with a diverse technology environment while helping staff remain productive and connected.

Position Summary

The IT Support Specialist serves as a primary point of contact for IT support requests, providing timely resolution of hardware, software, networking, and systems-related issues. The position is responsible for troubleshooting technical problems, maintaining databases, supporting servers and network infrastructure, developing automation solutions, and assisting with ongoing technology improvements across the organization.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide technical support to employees both remotely and in person.
• Troubleshoot hardware, software, networking, printer, and telecommunications issues.
• Install, configure, maintain, and upgrade computer hardware and software.
• Maintain organizational databases, including querying, importing/exporting data, and programming changes.
• Assist with Windows Server and Linux system administration.
• Develop and maintain scripts, automations, and software solutions to improve efficiency.
• Support software testing, deployment, and system upgrades.
• Analyze data and create reports using appropriate tools and technologies.
• Maintain accurate documentation and participate in process improvement initiatives.
• Collaborate with team members to resolve complex technical issues.
• Stay current with emerging technologies and industry best practices.
• Serve as a professional representative of the Archdiocese when interacting with employees, parishes, schools, vendors, and other stakeholders.

Qualifications

Required

• Associate degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
• Minimum of 3 years of relevant IT experience, including demonstrated programming or automation experience.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent customer service and communication abilities.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently.

Preferred

· CompTIA A+ and/or Network+ certification.

· Experience with:

o PowerShell and other scripting languages

o Windows and macOS environments

o Windows Server administration

o Linux server administration

o Microsoft Office and Outlook

o TCP/IP, DNS, and DHCP

o Routers, switches, and Ubiquiti networking equipment

o IT ticketing and service management systems

o Printer management in Windows environments

o Visual Basic, VBA, PHP, and Python

o Apache and Django web technologies/frameworks

• Standard weekday schedule.
• Occasional travel throughout the Archdiocese may be required.
